Friday 5 and a Giveaway!

Hello and Happy Friday!

I'm lining up with these ladies: Darci, April, Christina and Natasha for 5 on Friday!

Today's Friday 5 is Valentine's Day themed :)

I also have a very fun Valentine's Day giveaway for you at the end of the post!

1 // This Berry + Banana protein smoothie is the perfect pick my up in the morning for breakfast. See the recipe here. Of course, it tastes so much better with a Valentine's day inspired straw :)

2 // Speaking of straws, I found these cute extra large straws at Michael’s. They are perfect for smoothies and juices!

3 // For Valentine’s Day, I always like to add a little pink or red to my accessories and nails.
essie's 'a cut above' will do the trick!

4 // There’s something about adding a pretty arrangement of fresh flowers to my home that instantly puts me in a good mood. These pretty red and pink roses were found at Trader Joes! They have the best floral section for a not-so-bad price. This bouquet is a mixture of red and pink roses and pink spray roses.

5 // While searching for prints to hang in my home office, I stumbled across this lovely Etsy shop! Richelle’s shop Pretty Chic is filled with beautiful little print gems such as the one above. Pretty Chic also offers wedding invitations, stationary, custom stamps and more!

And now, one lucky reader will win this pretty print courtesy of PrettyChic along with a pack of red striped straws and the Essie nail polish from this post!

Please enter to win below. The more entries you submit, the better your chances are to win!
I will announce the winner on Monday, so stay tuned and good luck!

Fashion Trends to Try

Here are some fashion trends that I am loving at the moment:

1 // The tulle skirt {similar}. I love this lovely ballet pink one paired with a simple black sweater. So sophisticated and feminine.

2 // Destroyed light wash jeans {similar}. I have been stuck on dark wash skinny jeans for the past few years. I am thinking about breaking out of my comfort zone and trying a pair of destroyed denim. I haven't had a pair of ripped jeans since college...Thoughts?

3 // Pleather leggings {similar}. These are right up my alley... Black on black is a staple in my wardrobe, especially in the winter. I must find the perfect pair!

4 // This one is definitely a fave. The elbow patch cardigan sweater {similar}. So simple, preppy and chic.

5 // Last but not least... sequined pants. Because, why not?! {similar}

Tuscan Style Popcorn Recipe

A quick and easy way to jazz up your popcorn at home is to add some herbs and/or spices and olive oil instead of butter.

This recipe was inspired by one of the popcorn appetizers that is served at one of my favorite restaruants here in Columbus, The Wine Bistro. The Tuscan popcorn is a mix of salty, sweet and savory all at once! It is the perfect snack to pair with a crisp white wine.

INGREDIENTS

100 cal / single serving bag of kettle corn (2 bags for 2 people)
1 - 2 tbsp of olive oil (to taste)
1 tbsp of dried thyme
grated parmesan cheese (to taste)
sea salt (to taste)

DIRECTIONS

pop popcorn to directions.
pour popped popcorn into gallon sized ziplock bag.
add remaining ingredients in ziplock bag.
shake like a poloroid picture.
put popcorn in the perfect sized bowl.
pour chilled white wine, turn on the netflix and enjoy!

Happy Monday!

Friday 5

I'm back with 5 things that I am looking forward to this weekend...
{image credit, clockwise: 1 // 2 // 3 // 4}

1 // Bill and I are planning to shop for new a new dining room set. We've had a big open space in our dining room for so long! I'm hoping to find a big farm table with nice apolstered chairs, much like this photo.

2 // I have all the ingredients to make this cauliflower soup with truffle oil and parmesan. I have been craving warm soups for dinner lately because of the freezing temps!

3 // I couldn't resisit and bought some fun goodies to decorate the table for Valentines day :) Right now we only have a small round table in the kitchen, so that will have to do. There's going to be pink, sparkles, perhaps some doillies and of course pretty florals involved! I am excited to share next week!

4 // We have painters scheduled to come next week to paint our master bedroom, hallway, kitchen, dining room and family room! The colors we picked are very neutral, but I think will bring some sunshine into the place. I am excited to share the results!

5 // Of course, that means we need to CLEAN our place before the painters come! So, this will be my 5th thing on my weekend list. Even though, I'm not necessarily looking forward to it...

Pink & Gold Bridal Shower

Hello! I'm back!
My apologies for the lack of posts last week.
I was traveling for work and the time escaped me!

I had the honor of attending a very fabulous bridal shower for one of my closest friends this past weekend. I helped with some of the decor and set up in the morning.
The theme was gold, glitz and glam with colors being gold (duh!), pink , black and white.

If you follow me on instagram, then you may have already seen these pics :)

The shower was at 11am, so we served brunch food.
The bride's fiance works in the restaurant industry and had most of the food catered.
Some of the options were mini quiches, home fries, candied bacon, mini muffins, mini cinnamon rolls, bagels and cream cheese and fruit salad. Everything was delicious!

The tables were decorated with pink linens and a black and white chevron runner.
We used some of the gold vases from my wedding and filled them with pretty pink carnations for the centerpieces.

There was a bubbly bar complete with fruit and juices for mixers.
Of course I made straws for the occasion :)
The hostess had the great idea to paint the bottom of the champ glasses with enamel gold paint.
They turned out perfect!

The bride-to-be in front of the bubbly bar :)
The glitter champagne bottles were made by brushing on Modge Podge and rolling in glitter.
The hostess also made the gold circle chandelier you see behind her... She is so crafty!

I found the perfect cocktail napkins for the occasion {here}.

My attire for the shower was a black dress from H&M and this statement necklace from Fancesca's Collection

The rest of my weekend consisted of relaxing, hibernating and catching up on house work.

How was your weekend?

Home Office Makeover Update #1

We are in the very beginning stages of the home office (aka my girl cave) makeover. These photos are not the prettiest, but I wanted to show a few "before" photos and share with you a few items I picked up recently.

I picked up this furry rug from HomeGoods recently and I love it!
It adds a little warmth to the room and makes for a great backdrop for instagram photos :)

Again, please excuse the mess...
I am trying to figure out what I want to display on my desk and what I need to hang.
I am planning on painting this wall white as an accent wall (the other walls are light grey).
I purchased this desk from Target early last year.

I decided to spray the desk handle gold to match the color scheme of the room :)
I used Krylon 18kt gold plate spray paint, my favorite.

I purchased a few prints for my desk and to hang on the wall:

LOVE print (pictured below)

I'm hoping to find some frames from Goodwill or thrift store to spray gold
to hang the last 2 prints :)

(Again, sorry for the bad lighting. This was taken at night...
note the glass of wine on the desk!)

Last, but not least, my ghost chair! I have wanted one for so long!
It's surprisingly comfortable!

Next steps are:
-paint accent wall white
-organize and clean up (on-going project)
-assemble my file cabinet and paint handles gold :)
-plan out gallery wall above desk

Unfortunately, this week I will not make much progress because I am in CO for a work trip.
I am hoping to pick up and get the ball rolling next week.
Of course, I will have a full reveal when it's finished! Stay tuned!

Easy, Healthy Shredded Chicken Nachos

This will no doubt be one of the easiest and most delicious meals you will ever make!

Around the Rumple household, we are all about easy, healthy and delicious meals.
I had a craving for shredded chicken nachos, so I decided to tackle it myself.
I found a really easy crockpot shredded chicken recipe (unfortunately, I did not pin it).

I'm convinced the only way to make really great shredded chicken is in the crockpot.

EASY CHICKEN NACHOS

Ingredients:
3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (thawed, not frozen)
1 can of Rotel diced tomatoes and chilies
1/2 jar of your favorite salsa (I used Bill's mom's homemade salsa, so delish!)
1 can of water (using the empty Rotel can)

Your favorite tortilla chips (I used organic, no salt added blue corn chips)
shredded cheese (any kind you have left over in the fridge)
1/4 c. of corn
1/4 c. of black beans
1-2 tbsp of lite sour cream or non-fat Greek yogurt

Directions:
Pour the Rotel, water and salsa in the crockpot. Add the chicken beast and stir sauce so that it covers the chicken. Set crockpot on low and cook for 5-6 hours. Once chicken is cooked, start shredding the chicken with 2 large forks in the crockpot. The chicken should fall apart easily by now. Continue shredding until there are no large chunks.

On a large plate, place tortilla chips to cover the plate in one layer. sprinkle shredded cheese over the chips. Microwave the chips and cheese for about a minute or until cheese is completely melted. Add shredded chicken to the top of the cheesy nachos (use a slotted spoon or fork to strain extra liquid form the chicken). Then layer on the corn, black beans, sour cream and add a tbsp or 2 of left over salsa.

Serve and enjoy! You may need extra chips on hand!

Bill and I absolutely loved this. Great comfort food and you don't feel guilty eating them.
You could also use this recipe for chicken tacos.

We had enough left over that we made this 3 times in one week!

I'm back tomorrow with a little home office makeover update!

Target Finds

It's no secret that I love Target... Like, really love Target...
Like I could spend every Saturday grabbing a Starbucks
(because they are so conveniently located in each store)
and wandering around aimlessly until I black out and come home
with bags upon bags of things that I never knew I needed...
Does this ever happen to you?

Here are a few items I picked up recently...

scarf // gold bib necklace // silver statement necklace {similar} // gold watch
// gold striped jewelry box // mirrored frame {similar}

I have to own anything that is metallic and shiny... what gives?

Oh, and do you like my new white furry rug? It's from HomeGoods!
Another one of my addictions...
I bought if for my home office makeover! full reveal to come soon!

Our Wedding // Getting Ready

It's my first post sharing our wedding photos!
I thought I would start from the begining of the day with the "getting ready" photos.
I woke up in the morning in our hotel room in my lucky gold polka dot PJ's
{from Target last year}. These were the PJ's I was wearing when we got engaged
on Christmas 2012.

My bridesmaids and moms met me in my room in the morning with begals, fruit, cheese platter, coffee and mimosas! It was the perfect spread to nibble and sip while we "glammed" up.
