Taking a little break...

Hi friends!

I am taking a little hiatus from the blog for a little while.
I have been feeling a little overwhelmed in my day-to-day and sometimes it helps just to pause and
 re-evaluate priorities.

Don't get me wrong, I love blogging and enjoy all the support from the blogging community. I just know sometimes there are more productive things I could be doing with my time...
Like working out? Cleaning and decorating our house?

I also need to focus on organizing my life and making sure I am spending the appropriate time with my husband, friends and family.

Have you ever felt the need to take a little blogging break?

I am even contemplating taking a break from {gasp!} social media?

Thoughts?

Here are 5 fun things I am looking forward to this weekend:

1 // Having a nice night at home, cooking and hanging out with the hubs tonight.

2 // Meeting some friends at Cafe Brioso for coffee and girl chat Saturday morning.

3 // Dinner at Martini : Modern Italian (one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus) with Bill on Saturday night to celebrate Valentine's Day!

4 // Spending the night at the Hilton in downtown Columbus Saturday night!
Bill got a free stay there, so we decided to use it this weekend!
It will be our little mini stay-cation! :)

5 // Checking out the new board game bar in the Short North, KingMakers
with friends on Sunday.

So many fun events to look forward to!

How to Edit Your Instagram Photos

Happy Monday!

Another lazy, snowy weekend has flown by!
Not much to report on the events that occurred.
Bill and I had a fabulous dinner at the Macaroni Grill Friday night.
Saturday was filled with chores and taking Bill to the airport to send him off to Orlando
for work (lucky dog!). I wish I could have gone with him!
Yesterday, I got to meet one of my friends' brand new baby boy!
I love little new born snuggles... So precious!

Today, I wanted to share with you how I edit my IG photos.
I've had a few people ask me how I edit them, so I thought I would share with you
the apps I use for photo editing.
First, snap a photo of what you would like to share on your iphone.
The photo on the left shows you what a typical photo might look like.

Next, download the app Afterlight

This is the main app I use to edit all my photos.
I use the app to brighten my photos, crop, add borders, add filters and it also
has options for 'light leak' filters (like the photo above on the right, gives it a little light
streak on the left side).

Here are some screen shots of the app:

There are a lot of great filters to use as well.
My favorite is one called "Breeze" to give my photos a bright / warm feeling.

Another app I love to use is called A Beautiful Mess.

I use this app to add text to my photos, like the one below:

There are so many fonts and all different colors you can use.
You can also position the text anyway you want.
The app also has different borders and "doodles" you can add.

Those are the 2 most used photo editing apps I use.

Happy Monday!

Wedding Wednesday: The Dress

It's been a while since I've posted anything about our wedding.
I've decided to keep the posts going in order of events of the special day.
If you didn't catch my last wedding post, it was all about getting glammed up in the morning.

After the hair was curled and sprayed; after the make up was flawless and lashes were on, it was time to put on THE dress!

You can read the full story of how I found my dress here.

The designer of my dress is Priscilla of Boston, of whom I had never heard of before shopping for a bridal gown. The bridal consultant told me she was THE wedding dress designer even before Vera Wang started making wedding dresses.

After doing a little on line research, I come to find that P.o.B. has been around since 1945 and that she designed a wedding dress for Grace Kelly when she married the Prince of Monaco in 1956...

The dresses were the first of it's kind, to be worn with no girdles, braziers or
(more modernly) even spanx!

I knew I wanted a dress that was different, but fit my sense of style.
I didn't want it to be too "poofy" or ball-gown style.
I also didn't want it to be too form fitting or sheath.
I tried on a few strapless dresses and I just felt uncomfortable;
as if I would be pulling it up all night.
I tried a few on with halters and lace necklines, but they felt too heavy on top.
The moment I tried on this dress, I fell in love with the delicate crystal straps.
I loved the vintage look to the detailed straps, ivory colored pure silk fabric and the silk covered buttons that lined the entire back seam of the dress.
The sweetheart neckline flattered my curves and the fabric hugged in all the right places.

The only time I let the train out was during the ceremony.
The rest of the time it stayed bustled in the back.

Fun fact: My veil was my "something borrowed!"
The crystal detail and the scalloped hem went perfectly with the style of my dress.
My friend bought it for her wedding several years ago,
and since then there have been 4 of us that have worn it for our weddings!
I just handed it off to the next in line, getting married in May!
It's our "sisterhood of the traveling veil" story :)

Valentine's Day Table Decor

Here is a quick, easy and inexpensive way to decorate your table for Valentine's Day!

I purchased a $10 pink fabric table cloth from Party City along with pink cake plates.
I ordered the 10 inch paper doilies and the disposable wooden utensils from this etsy shop
I layered the doilies across the length of the table to mimic the look of a table runner.
The gold sequined placemats are actually from H&M
Did you know they have a home product line on their website?!
The large heart straws are from Michael's and I added the felt heart stickers.
The flowers are from Trader Joe's!
One bunch of red and pink roses and one bunch of pink spray roses
mixed together make the perfect V-day inspired arrangement.

What girl doesn't want an excuse to decorate with pink, red, white and gold! :)

Today is the last day to enter my Valentine's Day Giveaway
I will announce the winner tomorrow!

xoxo, Lindsay
