Soaking Up the Moments...

The last moments of being a family of 3 that is...

My parents came in town Thursday night and Camden has been in Grandma and Grandpa spoiling heaven ever since. I also felt so spoiled by my parents and husband over the weekend. My mom basically took care of Camden and Bill was busy with all the house chores and even cleaned out my car for me (which was so needed!). I even was able to sneak out of the house for a bit to get a pedicure and gel manicure (I forgot how wonderful these gel manicures are!). My mom also cooked a few nights and Bill grilled some hamburgers and veggies one night. My Dad, unfortunately, pulled a muscle in his neck so he wasn't able to play with Camden as much as he would have liked to, but hopefully he is on the mend and will start to feel better in the next day or so.

It was so hot this weekend, that we spent most of the time indoors playing. My parents did play with Cam outside here and there, but for a short time. They took him on a trip to the grocery store and on a few walks as well. My mom brought a big bag of fun toys and activities to keep Camden busy over the next week. Did I mention she's the best?!

I also just got a new 50mm lens for my Nikon D5100. Why did I wait so long to purchase one of these?! I'm so glad I got it before baby 2 is here! I got mine second hand from a friend but you can also purchase the same one on Amazon if you have a Nikon dslr camera.

I'm still learning the ins and outs of shooting in manual, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. Here are a few images I was able to capture this weekend...

Can I tell you how difficult it is to take photos of a toddler? Half of the pictures I took were blurry because this boy does not stay still for a second!

So, tomorrow is the big day! My c section is scheduled pretty early in the morning which I'm thankful for since I can't eat or drink anything starting at midnight tonight. And the simple fact that I will be so extremely anxious, nervous and excited all at the same time until we get into the OR. I'm just praying everything goes smoothly and that we end up with a healthy baby boy! Please say a little prayer for us if you think of it tomorrow morning!

Today we are just finishing up all the packing and planning for the week. Both sets of our parents are staying at our house and will be in charge of the home, Charlie our dog and Camden while we are in the hospital for the next 3 days. We are so lucky we both have parents that are so eager and willing to help out! Bill and I also plan to go out to dinner tonight as our 'last super' before baby arrives!

Like I mentioned in Friday's post, I may not be able to blog too much over the next week or so. You can follow me on Snapchat (LindsayRumple) and instagram (@lindsaykr11) for updates and the announcement of baby 2's arrival!! One more sleep until he's here!!!

Newborn Essentials | Feeding

Oh, hey guys!
I'm still here and pregnant! This week I decided to take it easy, relax and sleep as much as possible since I know that will all be very scarce in my near future (like as of this TUESDAY!). So, even though blogging was on my to do list, I didn't get to post as often as I would have liked this week. However, I did want to at least finish out the week with another installment of my 'Newborn Essentials' series. This week it's all about feeding baby. This is geared towards newborns (0-3 months), so mostly items that help with breastfeeding and bottle feeding.

Also, thank you all for your comments on Monday's post about becoming a SAHM. I got a ton of great advice!!

So, here are my top newborn breastfeeding/pumping/bottle feeding products:

1. Burp cloths (cloth diapers): These I used all the time with Camden, not only as burp cloths, but to lay under his head while changing him in public places, while on his play mat and bouncy seats. They definitely came in handy and I'd say we have about 20 of them since they were constantly being used! One of my friends gave me a bunch with cute patterned fabric sewn down the middle of them (here's a DIY tutorial on how to make them), which are my favorite!

2. Medela pump in style electric pump: I was lucky enough to get one of these before I had Camden for free through my insurance. It is still in great condition and I plan on using it again with baby 2. It is pretty compact and comes with a small cooler and attachments. Of course, I'm hoping to breastfeed in the beginning, but eventually pumping and storing breastmilk will come in handy when I'm ready to venture out of the house without baby or to have someone else feed him.

3. Medela pump and save bags: These were definitely used a ton since I was pumping full time with Camden for the first 5 months of his life. They are the perfect size and actually fit right on the Medela pump attachments. I would pump right into these bags, write on them the oz amount and date and store them horizontally in our freezer. I actually have a few boxes of these left over from Camden which I'm really happy about because they are not cheap!

4. Covered Goods nursing/car seat cover: This was one product that I knew I wanted to purchase for baby 2 and wished I had with Camden. I've heard great things about this product and I love that you can use it not only as a nursing cover, but also as a car seat cover, shopping cart cover and infinity scarf! I found this similar version for about $10 less on Amazon as well.

5. Medela steam sterilizing bags: We used these bags a lot for sterilizing pump parts, bottles and pacifiers. They are so easy to use and you can use each bag multiple times. I actually just bought this Dr. Brown's Microwave Steam Sterilizer which seems like it will save some time and we won't have to keep buying the bags.

6. Boon grass drying rack: We still use this for drying Camden's sippy cups and I ended up buying this bottle drying rack so we could just use it for baby 2's bottles.

7. My Brest Friend nursing pillow: With Camden, I only had the boppy pillow that was gifted to me at one of my showers. The boppy came in handy later when we used it for tummy time and for support when he started sitting up. However, it did not work for me as a nursing pillow. I am short waisted and the boppy was a bit too bulky for me. I bought this nursing pillow in hopes that it will work a bit better for breastfeeding this time around.

8. Dr. Brown's bottle warmer: This thing was used a TON with Camden since we were constantly warming breastmilk bottle from the fridge and freezer. I actually continued to warm his bottles when we transitioned to formula because I would make several bottles in the beginning of the day and just keep them in the fridge for easy access.

9. Dr. Brown's bottles: We ended up using Dr. Brown's bottles early on with Camden to help with his gas and reflux issues and just continued to use them through out the first year of his life. They have extra parts, but I do believe they helped to reduce gas and discomfort with him while bottle feeding. We will be using the same ones for baby 2!

Of course, there are so many products out there to help with nursing and bottle feeding, but these were the products (and a few new ones) that I believe I will use the most this time around after my experience with Camden.

My parents arrived yesterday (Thursday) and will be staying for 2 weeks to help with Camden and baby 2! Bill's parents will also be here next week for baby 2's arrival! I can't believe we are going to meet him (finally) on Tuesday morning!!

I'm going to try to have a blog post up on Monday, but after that it may go a bit dark here on the blog for a week or so while we all adjust to the new addition to the family.

Make sure to follow me on Snapchat (LindsayRumple) and instagram (@lindsaykr11) to for updates on baby 2's arrival! I can't wait to meet him and finally reveal his name!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Thoughts on Becoming a SAHM + Why I Blog

*First, I just wanted to give you all a quick update since my post on Friday. I had my follow up appointment Friday and my BP was normal (whoo hoo!). They still want me to try to minimize activity as much as possible, but I'm not on any restricting bed rest at this point. I have my next appointment Wednesday. Fingers crossed we are still on schedule for the c section on the 28th! Thank you all who commented with concerns and well wishes!

Meet my new boss... He keeps me very busy, has a tight schedule with lots of over time... But, he's cute as can be! :)

My last official day of (part time) work was almost 2 weeks ago. We decided to continue taking Camden to daycare for the few weeks before baby #2 arrives just to give me a break and so that I can prepare his arrival on the 28th! Both sets of our parents will be coming in town to help with Camden and the new baby for 3 weeks (alternating weeks) which is wonderful! I remember wanting to be so independent with Camden and didn't ask for much help when he was a newborn. This time around I am taking any help I can get, especially since we will also have a toddler to take care of! Bill will also get a few weeks off of work which helps a lot. Every company should offer paternity leave!

With that said, I am nervous about when the help leaves. Most likely August will be tough since I will officially be on my own with 2 babes under 2 while Bill works during the week. As of right now, I can't imagine having the energy to do it, but of course I'm in my last few weeks of pregnancy and my energy level is so low at this point. I'm nervous about not getting any sleep (which I'm not really getting much now as it is) and then having to take care of a baby and toddler all day. I'm hoping that I have the patience of a saint!

However, I am excited to be with my babies all day everyday. I get to be a part of their learning process and we will make the best memories together. I also want to be a part of nurturing their sibling relationship. I can't wait until the boys are at the age when they can play together and like the same activities and toys. I know there will be fights and jealousy, that comes with the territory. But, it will be fun to see their relationship grow and evolve.

I'm nervous that I will lose a sense of myself that I had even working part time. I guess it wasn't necessarily a 'career', but it was a piece of my life when I could connect with other adults (even though it was mostly via email working remotely). I was using a different part of my brain other than shapes, colors, letters, etc. It also gave me confidence and made me feel like I was contributing to our family financially. We have made a new budget going forward and of course, the first thing to go will be my miscellaneous, impulse purchases from Target and spending too much money on eating out.

I am lucky in that I don't have to work. Bill has a great position and career that is able to support our family. Sure he has to make the occasional work trip and leave us for a night or 2, but other than that his job has been a blessing. We see his income as our family income and I am grateful that he is supportive in my decision to stay home with the kids.

With that being said, I know I will need this little blogging space more than ever! It is my place to come and be creative, to connect with other like minded bloggers and mamas and to have a little piece of time to myself. I know that my 'me' time will be very scarce once I am home full time with 2 little ones. I am going to work out a schedule so that I can at least try to carve out an hour or so a few times a week to focus on this creative space of mine. It is still so important to me! I probably will only be able to post 2-3 times a week, but hopefully once things die down a bit and I get into more of a routine with them I can start posting 5 times per week again.

Anyways, without this post becoming too lengthy... I want to thank all my readers for sticking with me through this transitional period of life! Also, if there are any SAHM moms out there that have any advice for carving out 'me' time (especially those with 2 or more kiddos), please feel free to comment below!

Oh, and GO CAVS! (Even though I fell asleep before the game ended...oops!)

Father's Day + Baby 2 Update

It's been one of those weeks. I totally thought I had everything under control. Bill left for a 3 day work trip (his last over night trip for the next 6 weeks) on Monday and I was planning to take Camden to daycare Monday through Wednesday to give my very pregnant and tired self some relief during the day.

Well, Camden came down with a fever on Monday while at daycare, so I picked him up early. Luckily, it seemed to just be a 24 hour bug because he was back to normal the next day. Then, on Wednesday at my 37 week OB appointment, my BP was high and they had to run a few tests. Luckily, I do not have preeclampsia at this point. My doctor suggested that I try to take it easy and be on 'modified' bed rest (no strenuous activity) for a few days. I go back today for a follow up. I'm hoping we can make it to the 28th for baby 2's scheduled c section!

I ended up being induced at 37 weeks with Camden due to high BP and we weren't really prepared. Bags weren't packed and I was hoping to make some freezer meals before he came. Well, the same scenario is happening again! I feel like it's deja vu!

Luckily, Bill is home now. We were able to take Camden to daycare yesterday and today so Bill can work and I can rest and finish up some preparations for baby 2 (#nesting).

We probably won't have a very exciting Father's Day, but he deserves so much more than I can give him! Bill has been such a great partner not only in life, but also in raising Camden. I have no doubt he will be an amazing father to TWO boys as well! He works so hard to provide for our family and he deserves to be celebrated this weekend!

When I asked him if there was anything specific he wanted for father's day, he responded that he needed some new clothes (to my surprise). The man never buys clothes for himself! So, hopefully we will go shopping for some new things for him. Other than that, we will probably just lay low, spend quality time as a family of 3 and continue to prepare for baby 2 to arrive.

I am so excited and anxious for this next phase of our lives to start, but I also want to enjoy these last few moments and memories as a family of 3. These photos were taken back in early October, just a few weeks before we found out I was pregnant! Camden was only 10 months at the time and I'm realizing, just looking at these photos, how quickly he's grown over the past 8 (almost 9) months!

I have a few posts in the works before baby 2 arrives. I have a post started sharing my feelings about becoming a SAHM and why I want to continue blogging. I also have another set of Newborn Essentials all about products to help with feeding. Things might be a little sporadic around the blog for the next few weeks. I know whatever happens over the next week and a half is God's plan and out of my control. Whenever he decides to come, we are so excited to meet this new addition to our little family!

I hope you all had a great week!
Happy Father's Day weekend to all the hard working Dads out there!

Weekend Recap

First off, I have to address the terrible tragedy that happened in Orlando over the weekend. We woke up to the horrific news yesterday morning and have just been in a funk ever since. It's such a scary world right now and I'm feeling so nervous about bringing up 2 little boys in this type of environment. I am praying for the world and all that were involved.

This little space is meant to uplift and inspire, so on to more positive things that happened this past weekend (prepare yourself for Camden photo overload)...

(back of his hair before cut)

We took Camden to get his first haircut on Saturday. Poor guy was not happy the whole time, but he was a trouper for putting up with it! At the end, the lady asked if I wanted her to spike his hair and out of pregnancy brain or something, I just said, "sure!"

Not really his 'style', but a fun little look to remember the day!

After the haircut episode, we went to Target for a few things and to help Camden calm down after the stressful experience.

That night, Bill grilled pesto chicken and kebabs on the grill and we set up a little water park for Camden in our back patio. It was so hot out even in the evening!

(better photos of his new haircut)

Sunday was a lazy, stay in our PJs day and it was just what the Dr ordered for this preggo! Bill worked on some landscaping projects and Camden and I ran around the house and played all day. His new favorite game is 'dump all the bins of toys out on the floor right after mommy puts them away.'

This past Thursday was my last day of work, but we are still taking Camden to daycare 3 days per week for the next few weeks before baby 2 arrives. I'm going to use this time to prepare, nest, relax, etc. I can't believe we have only 2 weeks! Time is flying!

Friday Finds | Craving Pineapple

(*click on an item above to shop!*)

Yes, I am literally craving pineapple (and all fruit) during this pregnancy, but I'm also craving all the cute pineapple decor and accessories!

In other news: We had a healthy check up for baby #2 yesterday. He's not quite ready to make his appearance yet, but feeling very low! I'm hoping we stay on schedule with his birthday on the 28th! I also started packing baby #2's hospital bag and will be completing Bill and my bags this weekend as well... It's the final countdown!

We have 2 more weekends as a family of 3, so this weekend we just plan to relax and enjoy the summer weather with Camden.

Oh, and PS... Yesterday was my last day of work (part time). I am officially a SAHM! I plan to post about my thoughts and feeling about staying at home with 2 kiddos next week!

Happy Friday!

May Beauty Favorites

Oh, hi June! You came up quick!

It's time for my monthly Beauty Favorites post for the month of May. Last month, I made a few new beauty purchases that included this Origins eye cream, this NYX color correcting under eye concealer,  and this Chi iron guard thermal protection spray. I also continued using a few of my favorites: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind dark circles concealer and Jergens Natural Glow tanning lotion.

1. Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream - Last month I decided it was time to start focusing on brightening my under eye area. Obviously, sleep is getting difficult as of recently and I don't see it getting any better in the near future (after baby arrives!). This eye cream helps to brighten and de-puff the under eye area. I have been using it in the morning after I put on my daily moisturizer and before my concealer. It seems to be helping the concealer stay longer and helps to reduce creasing under my eyes.

2. NYX color correcting under eye concealer - I have been watching random YouTube videos about how to conceal dark circles under the eyes and this color correcting concealer had been mentioned a few times. The orange tone helps to counteract the blue color under and (for me) in the corners of the eyes. I have really fair skin in and around my eyes, so there is a lot of bluish hues that show through my under eye and inner eye areas. I dab a small amount of this concealer over the blue areas before I put on my regular concealer (see below).

3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind dark circles concealer - I believe I've mentioned this concealer before and I know it's such a popular one (for good reason). If nothing else, I would put on this concealer and mascara if I was low on time. That's how much I love it!

4. Chi Thermal Iron Gaurd Protection Spray - I just recently bought this protection spray and use it before I style my hair with the straightener or curling iron. I just got my hair highlighted and trimmed and I really want to work on protecting my ends so the cut lasts longer. I've used several other Chi products in the past and I always love them.

5. Jergens Natural Glow tanning lotion - I've been using this stuff for years! Yes, even when it had a nasty smell. Now, the smell is so much better! I put this on all over after every shower and it has really helped to build a natural looking 'glow' (not really a tan yet). I also picked up this tanning spray that I have yet to try on my legs. I feel like it's always so difficult to get a good tan on my legs for some reason! I've also used these tanning wipes before that work really well and I may have to give them a try again.

Have you tried any of these beauty products?
What products have you been loving recently?

Living In the Moment...

This past weekend my parents came in town to visit. I am loving the grandparent support we have and I know we are so lucky to have the family support we do. They don't even complain about making the 6+ hour drive to get to us.

With only about 3 weeks until baby #2 will make his arrival, I am feeling anxious, excited and physically so ready to have this baby outside of my body instead of in. It is getting more and more difficult to chase after my very busy 18 month old who will not stay in one spot for a minute. I took for granted my ability to get him in and out of his car seat and crib, carrying him upstairs and generally anywhere. Now, these simple tasks make me feel light headed and out of breath.

I know this part of pregnancy can be the most physically tolling on the body and the last few weeks can feel as though they drag on forever. I'm trying my best to live in the moment and really soak up these last few days and weeks when we are just a family of 3. I'm trying to give Camden as much of my undivided attention as I can as I know that will change drastically once baby 2 is here.

I am also trying my best not to be hard on myself when I look at these pictures. I know I am growing a little human being inside of me. Of course, my first reaction is straight up criticism of my growing body and I know that's so wrong of me, but I'm being honest. I miss the days when I could go running for an hour and feel good about myself physically. I miss being able to fit into 'normal' clothes like my jeans, tops, dresses, etc. I know I will work on getting my body back in shape post baby, but I also know how it takes time. I know I need to be patient.

I'm trying my best to live in the moment and enjoy the 'now.'

There are so many women out there that would love to be in my shoes and be pregnant. So many that are trying or have tried and lost. I know I am lucky and I need to be grateful. This may even be the last time I am able to get pregnant or will be pregnant (the jury is still out on that one), so I'm trying to embrace it and enjoy this time.

Soon, my babies won't be babies anymore and I will long for the days when they needed me so much. We will get back to a sense of 'normal' in a few years when the crazy 'baby' days are over. I'm sure we will look back on this time fondly and also think about how fast the years have gone by. To quote Gretchen Rubin, 'The days are long, but the years are short.'

I'm glad we were able to capture this time of our lives with a few photos over the weekend. And if you made it to the end of this post, give yourself a pat on the back! Sorry for my emotional rambling... I blame hormones! :)

Friday Finds | Summer Staples under $25

(click on an item above to shop!)

This summer's fashion is all about easy to wear pieces and fun accessories. You don't have to break the bank for the latest trends either! I pulled together a few of my favorite summer staple pieces that are each under $25!

1. Swing dress - everyone needs a comfy, flowy swing dress in their closet this summer. Dress it up with wedges and a statement necklace, or wear it casual with flip flops while running errands.

2. Flowy tank - I may have to buy several of these for the summer as they look super comfy! Perfect to throw on with a cute pair of shorts and sandals.

3. Scalloped hem top - I love a pretty scallop hem! This top would be perfect paired with white jeans or shorts.

4. Tassel crossbody - You guys know my love for a good crossbody. This one is so on trend and only $20.98 on sale!

5. Fun phone case - I love mixing up my phone cases each season. This one would be perfect for those ladies that brunch... or even if you don't, it's a great conversation accessory!

6. Graphic tee - I'm loving this graphic tee and I'm sure it will be exactly how I'm feeling after baby arrives! I see myself wearing this tee and comfy lounge pants on a consistent basis in the near future.

7. Retro tortoise shell sunglasses - I love this trend and instead of buying a pair 10 times the cost of these (that would most likely get smashed by my toddler), I think the $6 price tag has me sold!

8. Floppy hat - You NEED a floppy hat if you are planning to frequent the pool or beach this summer. I love this striped one for less than $20!

All these items are part of Nordstrom's Half Yearly Sale going on now through Sunday! Don't hesitate to snatch these up before they're gone!

My parents are in town this weekend and the weather is supposed to be really nice! hope you all had a great week and Happy Friday!

Organization | My Life Binder + Daily Planner

Who's ready to get serious about organizing their life?!
The only way I really feel organized is to set goals, make lists and plan, plan, plan!

"Give me 6 hours to chop down a tree, I will spend the first 4 sharpening the axe" - Abraham Lincoln

This is true with everything in life. If you have a goal in mind, you must plan and do your research before attempting to accomplish it. I live by my planner and lists everyday to keep me on task!

Here's what I have set up over the past few weeks that have helped me stay focused on getting tasks done and goals accomplished.

Number one, you will need a good planner. I picked up this Day Designer planner from Target recently and I am loving it! It is a July 2016 - June 2017 calendar, but there are blank weekly and daily pages that you can fill in and start using immediately.

(sorry these pics are a bit dark... I need to work on my photog skills!)

I love the daily pages because it helps map out your day by the hour. I seriously have to fill this out daily to keep on target with what needs to get done. I have major ADD somedays, so this helps me stay on track and not get distracted.

On top of keeping a daily planner, I also created what I like to call my Life Binder.

I picked up a 3 ring binder from Target and some pretty dividers, some even from the dollar spot! PS - Target has some really cute office/planner supplies in the dollar spot at the moment!

The first thing in my Life Binder is a weekly list of all the major aspects of my life that I need to keep on top of. I made this simple sheet in excel and it's something that I update weekly. Every Sunday or Monday I will list tasks, goals, to do's in each category for the week. As I complete the tasks, I check them off.

Behind my weekly worksheet, I have each category labeled on the dividers. Here I can add any paperwork, lists I've made or anything else I need to keep track of for that category.

I found some free printables for weekly meal planning, weekly cleaning schedule and blog posts. I try to print these and update them weekly. I use the Emily Ley free blog planner printables for the blog calendar and weekly blog post ideas.

Towards the back, I keep a page protector full of coupons that I don't want to lose track of. I also keep a page protector to hold any invitations we receive in the mail. I keep extra page protectors in the back if needed.

After I put this binder together, I've felt so much more organized on a daily basis. Knowing that soon I will be a SAHM with 2 under 2, I'm hoping this will help me stay sane and keep up with my time management. As of right now, we don't have a house cleaner, but that would be the first person I would hire in a heartbeat! It's so hard to keep up with the house cleaning chores!

What do you use to keep you organized? Do you keep a daily planner?
