Spring & Summer Capsule Series | Vol. 3 (SHOES!)

I've been working on 'upping' my shoe game this season. I am very picky about shoes (and they only go on my feet... name that movie!) so, it takes a lot for me to commit to a pair that I like. I'm all for spending a little more for a pair that I know will not only last a long time but that is actually comfortable to wear.

However, I'm loving all the different sandal trends that have been popular this season and I wanted to be able to have a handful of options for different occasions to choose from. So, I have been successful at scoring some really cute, trendy sandals for less!

Here are my top 8 favorite shoes for spring and summer:

cardigan (on sale for $18!) | tank | white shorts | necklace | tory burch 'miller' sandals (in color 'make up')

1. Tory Burch Miller Sandals (I have the color 'make up'): My favorite (and most expensive) pair are these tory burch miller sandals. It took me a while to understand why these were so popular. They are really just leather flip flops with the tory burch logo. But, they are the most comfortable pair of nice looking flip flops of all time! You can dress these up or down. And the fact that they have been popular for years and years now makes me think they are not going out of style any time soon! I'm all about investing in one pair of shoes for each season and for me these sandals were going to be my 'splurge' for spring and summer because I know I will wear them constantly! I got the color 'make up' for reference and it is the perfect neutral tan color with just a hint of blush tones. It is definitely a flattering color on my skin tone. FOR SIZING: It was recommended to me to go up at least a half size in these. I'm typically between a 6.5 and 7 with shoes and I ordered a 7 and they fit great!

2. Jack Rodgers 'Georgica' Jelly Flip Flop (I have an off white color, probably closest to the 'bone' color): I got these a few years ago and they have been such a great summer sandal! Because they are made of the flexible 'jelly' material, they are perfect for the pool, beach, etc. I love that these are fashionable, comfortable AND functional summer shoes!

3. Old Navy Bow Slides: I actually have these in 2 colors, black and blush! They are the perfect slide on your feet and go shoes. And the cute bow just adds a little more to your regular slide sandals.

4. Old Navy Double Strap Sandals: I bought these because they actually look a lot like a designer pair, but of course for a lot less! The gold tone is a great neutral shade and the double straps make for a comfortable fit.

5. Old Navy Bow Wedges: I mean, I obviously can't say 'no' to any shoe with a bow! And when I saw the wedge version of my bow sandals, I had to get a pair!

6. Target (A New Day) Ema High Block Heel Pumps: I bought these pumps because I needed a more 'dressier' pair. I LOVE the block heel trend and the simple, classic look of these (plus the price tag) got my attention! I have been wearing them more than I thought I would and they are surprisingly comfortable! I love that I can pair them with jeans or dresses!

kimono (40% off!) | cami (40% off!) | jeans (40% off!) | monogram necklace | block heel pumps (in color 'Taupe')

7. Target (Universal Thread) Edwina Peep Toe Booties: These were an early spring purchase and I'm so glad I snagged them when I did. Unfortunately, it looks like they are sold out now. However, this designer pair is now on major sale!

8. Nine West Wedge Pump: These are actually a few years old and it looks like there's only one size left in a white color (mine have nude colored straps), but they have been a great pair for spring and summer over the past few years! I actually have this pair on my current wishlist and I've linked to a few others that are similar below... I think a classic pair of nude/neutral wedges are a closet staple for spring and summer!

Mini Nordstrom Try On

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! Should I name this day 'Try On Tuesday?' If you caught my instagram stories yesterday, I posted a mini try on session from Nordstrom. I had a lunch date at the Nordstrom Cafe on Friday, so I snuck in a quick try on with a few tops (and one dress) I've been eyeing from their website. Sometimes, it's easier to post the links on a blog post since I don't have the swipe up feature yet (if you could find me 8k more followers, that would be great!).

Below is everything I was able to try on! For sizing reference, I am 5'2" and usually wear a size Small in tops and size Small Petite dresses in most Nordstrom brands.

*As always, Nordstrom offers free shipping and returns! So, you could try on these items from the comfort and convenience of your own home and return if they don't work out! Just one of the reasons I love shopping there! This is not sponsored FYI!

1. First and foremost, I had to try on this insta-famous Madewell striped tee! And I totally get the hype now! It is just the perfect t-shirt. Perfect cut, fabric, v-neck, stripes... Totally worth all 25 dollars spent. Why? Because I will most likely be wearing this tee all summer! I sized down to an XS in this tee. I would say it runs a bit big, so if you like a more fitted look I would size down.

My OOTD yesterday: Madewell tee | distressed denim shorts (from last year - I sized up to a 6 in these for a loose fit) | faux leather reversible tote | my new $14 sunnies (another purchase from Nordstrom) | monogram necklace | tory burch miller sandals (in color 'make up', size up 1/2 size!)

2. This cute, little peplum top was second on my list and it came home with me! BONUS: It's on sale for less than $15! I sized down to a XS (runs big).

3. This floral embroidered top was so pretty in person! I am wearing a size XS here and it is the perfect length for a front tuck! I have a short torso though, so if you have a longer waist I would suggest ordering your true size.

4. I also wanted to try on this striped short sleeve top that is similar to my favorite long sleeve version that I love. This short sleeve version has a really cute twisted, cut out on the back! I put the photo from the website below bc it was hard to get a photo of the back!

Lastly, I wanted to try on this very popular short sleeve, shift dress. This one comes in a ton of colors and the black is just such a great basic piece to have in your wardrobe. It is a really nice, quality fabric, but also breathable which would make it perfect for spring and summer. The cut and neckline just makes it so flattering on any figure! This one runs big, size down. I am wearing a size small and would probably order a size small petite.

That's all I was able to try on this time! I have linked to everything below as well for easy shopping! Feel free to leave a comment with any questions!

Recent Amazon Purchases + What's In My Cart

Happy Hump Day, friends! I wanted to share with you all what I've purchased from our favorite online retailer (Amazon, duh!) recently as well as what is currently in my cart waiting for me to pull the trigger... These posts are always so popular! I think it was over a month since my last one, so it's time for an update!

Here's what I purchased in the month of April:

1. This $15 kimono was definitely a top favorite purchase of last month. And it proved to be popular with my followers as well! It was one of the most purchased items I've posted from last month!

2. This bamboo clutch was also a favorite purchase from last month! I am so excited to use it this summer and on my vacation! It is the perfect size for all the necessities like phone, wallet, lip gloss, etc. And it is less than $40 with free prime shipping!

3. This $10 bralette was also a popular item that has been purchased from a handful of my followers as well! This one is really comfortable and perfect to wear under over sized sweaters/tees, etc. As I mentioned in my last post, I wear this bralette over my favorite strapless bra for added support.

4. I ordered these fun red beaded earrings and I can't wait to wear them! They are the perfect statement piece for summer! And you can't beat the price tag! I also just ordered these colorful tassel earrings and am anxiously awaiting their arrival today. I just love all the colorful statement jewelry that is on trend right now!

5. Another purchase were these invisibobble hair ties. They are supposed to be better for your hair than regular hair ties because they won't pull or create a crease in your hair when you use them. I've been using them whenever I have my hair up now and they work great!

6. One item I purchased for Bennett was this Fisher-Price booster seat. We went with this one because it is the newer version of the same one Camden currently uses. I can't believe my baby is in a booster seat now 😭

Here are a few items I have waiting in my cart...

1. This tropical print dress would be the perfect casual dress for my upcoming vacation! And the price is just right!

2. I am still waiting to pull the trigger on this colorful, off the shoulder one piece! I think I may have to just get it and hope for the best! It has some great reviews and for less than $20 it's a steal! Not sure I really need another bathing suit, but I have 3 black one pieces so I need to liven it up a bit with some color!

3. I also have this travel steamer in my cart and it's been there for a while. We actually don't own a steamer and I think this one would be perfect to use at home and for travel.

4. This clutch is in my cart because I need a 'dressier' one to bring with me to a few weddings this summer. I need a neutral tone one and thought this one would be perfect!

5. Last, but not least, I have a few items for the boys in my cart for summer! I want to get them a little picnic table for the backyard. AND this pool looks like so much fun!

That's all I have for this month's Amazon finds!

What have you found or purchased from Amazon recently?

Friday Finds | Vol. 7

Happy Friday! I wanted to end the week with a good ol' fashioned 'Friday Finds' post since I haven't done one of these in a while! I feel like there are so many great items I've found recently that I've wanted to share with you all!

#1. This PJ set came home with me last week and it is the best $20 I've spent in a while! SO soft and comfy! True to size!

#2. As always, Target is killing it in the shoe dept. I ordered these block heel pumps (in color Taupe) because I was in need of some dressier heels. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried them on at how comfortable they are! ALSO - Target is currently offering 20% off all shoes with code: SHOES, so snag these while they are discounted!

#3. I finally jumped on the bralette bandwagon and ordered this $10 racerback one from Amazon. It is surprisingly so comfortable and easy to throw on under over-sized sweaters, tee shirts, etc. For those of us that need a little more support than what a bralette can provide, I actually wear mine over my favorite strapless bra (this one is AWESOME! Does not slip down).

$10 lace bralette | sweater (I sized up to a Med) | jeans

#4. Another Amazon find recently were these fun, beaded earrings! I really need to add some more fun statement earrings to my collection for summer and I am not willing to fork over $40 a pair. This pretty red $10 pair came yesterday and they are actually really great quality! And not too heavy which I was worried about. (I do plan on posting an Amazon Finds post next week, so you will hear about these 2 items again! But, wanted to share them before they are sold out!)

#5. I just ordered and received this fun, floral wrap dress from Express and it is SO perfect for summer! I am on the hunt for a few dresses I can not only wear to weddings, but also on my upcoming vacation. This one is SO flattering and the colors are so pretty in person too! They have a ton of different colors and patterns of this dress as well. This one is also gorgeous!

There are my top 5 finds of the week! Pop over to my 'Try Ons + Sales' page for info on all the best online sales happening this weekend!

BeautyCounter Review | Products I've Tried

I've been using a handful of Beautycounter products for the past couple of months and have recently purchased a few BC products as well. If you don't know what Beautycounter is, I highly suggest going to their website here and reading their Our Story page as well as the Never List. Bottom line (Cliff notes version) is that we need to be a bit more cognizant of what beauty products we are using and what ingredients are in them. The FDA does not currently regulate ingredients in beauty or skin care product industry (including sunscreen!) so, companies can literally put anything they want in their products including harmful chemicals and toxins.

When Amy reached out to me late last year regarding BC, I was a little skeptical at first. I thought to myself, 'Is this just another 'moms that sell stuff' fade/pyramid scheme? Is she going to try to convince me to sell stuff?' I was also in a bit of sticker shock when I looked at the prices of the products on the website. However, the more I read about the company, their mission statement, and the fact that they are working to advocate for safer beauty and skin care products in the U.S., I became intrigued.

I made a goal for 2018 to do my own research on a skin care routine that would work for me. Before this year I really didn't have one (yikes!). I would typically just take my make up off at night with a make up wipe and maybe put some face lotion on before bed... that was it! Now that I'm in my mid 30s (gulp), I know it is definitely time to invest in my skin. So, I asked Amy if I could try out some of the skin care products. I've also tried out their lip sheers (I now own one!), lip glosses and have purchased an spf stick. She recently let me try out some make up products that are included in the 'Flawless in Five' promotion they are offering currently. I wanted to give you all my full and HONEST opinion on these products since I feel it is my duty to do so!

*Just FYI - I myself do NOT sell Beautycoutner. I do not plan on selling BC products or to become a consultant. This is not a sponsored post, however, Amy did provide me with samples of some products to try out. I am using affiliate links for the items I've suggested below, so I will get a small commission if you purchase any of these products. And as always, I feel responsible to give my readers my full and honest review!

Here's what I've tried...

Skin Care

+ Countermatch Line: Amy gave me travel size samples of the Eye Rescue Cream, Adaptive Moisture Lotion, Intense Moisture Serum and the Recovery Sleeping Cream. She gave me these samples back in January and I am still using them every day! The fact that these little sample sizes have lasted me more than 3 months, tells you that the full size products will last you a long time!

I have been using the eye cream and the recovery sleeping cream just about every night before bed. I have been mixing a few drops of the intense moisture serum to the sleeping cream a few times a week. I occasionally will use the adaptive moisture lotion on my face after I wash it in the morning.

Since using these products, my skin has felt SO much more hydrated through out the day. I think that it has helped with my overall complexion since my skin is typically a bit on the dry side. Since these sample sizes have lasted me this long I haven't bought any full size versions of these products yet. However, I am almost out of the Recovery Sleeping Cream, so that will most likely be my next BC purchase!

*She also just gave me some samples of the Body Moisturizer and the Cleansing Milk which I just started using this week and so far I love them!

+ No. 1 Brightening Face Oil: This oil was my free gift when I signed up for their Band Of Beauty Membership (visit this link to find out more about the membership program). The oils are definitely on the pricey end, but I have seen a HUGE difference in my skin tone and complexion since I started using this oil. And I've had it for at least 4 months now and the bottle is not even a third of the way empty. So, I would say it is an investment, but these oils last forever since you only use 1 or 2 drops at a time. I use this oil at night (1 or 2 drops) maybe twice a week before or mixed in with the Recovery Sleeping Cream and my face feels so much more hydrated when I wake up in the morning.

I also have a sample of the No. 3 Balancing Charcoal face mask that I'm excited to try out tonight! I will be wearing the mask for our Facebook Live event at 9pm (est)! (You can join the event as well here)

Make Up

Flawless in Five: Amy graciously gave me samples of each product from their Flawless in Five promotion. So, I was able to sample the Tint Skin (in shade: Linen), the Touch Up Skin Concealer Pen (in shade: Light), the Color Define Brow Pencil, the Volumizing Mascara, the Powder Blush Duo (in 'Tawny/Whisper')  and the Lip Gloss (in shade: Bare Shimmer). Right now, you can buy all six of these products for $150 ($200 value).

I loved this easy, quick make up routine which gave me just enough coverage for an everyday look. I literally was able to apply all 6 products in less than 5 minutes. This would be a great combo for busy, working or stay at home moms, college students, jet setters, and really just anyone that just wants or needs the bare minimum when it comes to everyday make up.

Stand outs for me out of this group were the Volumizing Mascara, the Powder Blush Duo and the Lip Gloss! The mascara has a really nice formula and I loved the shape of the brush! It really helps with adding volume to the lashes. The Powder Blush Duo in Tawny/Whisper was just the perfect blush color for spring and the lip glosses are SO good! They smell like a vanilla cupcake!

The only make up product that I have purchased myself, is the Lip Sheer in Petal. And I have been using it everyday ever since I received it! It makes my lips feel so moisturized and the color is the perfect pink shade for spring! I would definitely call this more of a tinted lip moisturizer than a true lip stick. If you want something more pigmented that lasts longer, I would suggest trying out their new lip sticks.

I also just received a sample of the Dew Skin Moisturizing Coverage (in No. 2) and I loved it! This is most comparable to the Maybelliene BB Cream with spf that I currently have been using everyday. The Dew Skin, however, definitely leaved my face feeling more hydrated throughout the day!

Others

I also recently tried out the new Make Up Wipes and I will say, they are not my favorite. I did not like the smell of them and they weren't as 'wet' as I felt like they should be in order to remove my make up. BUT, they did leave my skin feeling more hydrated than after use than the ones I'm currently using (Target brand). The main benefit is that they are biodegradable and are made with more natural ingredients than the ones I currently use.

I also recently purchased this Protect Stick Sunscreen spf 30. After all the hoopla last year about the dangerous and toxic chemicals that are found in some sunscreens, I definitely made it a point to do my homework on buying sunscreen for this season. I plan to keep this stick on me at all times so I can apply when needed on myself AND it is safe enough to use on the boys as well!

In summary, does this mean I am going to buy all BeautyCounter products to replace everything I'm using? Answer: Simply, no. I do plan on swapping out the main offenders, such as skin care, face lotion, oils, sunscreen and lip products. I may or may not switch out any of my make up products besides the lip products. I like to think of it like my diet... I try to eat 'clean' as much as possible, but does that mean I don't have a cheat meal or snack every now and then? No. I mainly am focused on investing in my skin care regimen so those will most likely be the main products that I, myself, will purchase.

Products in my cart for my next purchase: The Eye Rescue Cream, The Recovery Sleeping Cream and possibly some more spf products.

Phew.... that was A LOT! If you are interested in hearing more about BeautyCounter and the products I've been using, make sure to join our Facebook LIVE event tonight at 9pm! I will be wearing the charcoal face mask and drinking wine, so that will be a sight to see! All you have to do is hop on your computer and comment/ask questions in your jammies!

JOIN OUR EVENT TONIGHT HERE!

Hope to see you all tonight!

Spring & Summer Capsule Series | Vol. 2 (Denim)

Hello, friends! I bring you volume 2 of my Spring and Summer Capsule series! This post is all about jeans! I may do another post closer to summer regarding shorts, but for right now with this weather... I'm still covering my legs!

I think it's important to have a variety of jeans available for all seasons and occasions in your closet. For Spring and Summer, I like to have a good pair of white jeans, a light wash distressed pair of jeans and a dark wash pair available in my closet for a variety of occasions. I have listed below the jeans that I currently have and love, as well as some jeans that are on my wish list.

Let's start with this pair of dark washed, raw hem jeans. I got this pair a few weeks ago and I have been wearing them non-stop! They are ankle length with a 'chewed hem' as they call it and have the slightest distressing sprinkled on the front. But, these are the perfect running errands in my flip flops during the day and then throw on a pair of heels for date night pair of jeans! They fit maybe a little larger than normal, but I went ahead and got my normal size in the petite length (I'm 5' 2") and they fit great!

cardigan (currently 40% off!) | cami (currently 40% off) | jeans (currently 40% off!) | similar bag here and budget friendly here | bow wedges

$15 kimono | cami (40% off!) | jeans | bamboo clutch (less than $40 with free shipping!) | similar wedges

Second up are these distressed, high waist jeans. They are considered jeggings most likely because of how soft and stretchy they are. And pair that with the high waist and it's like you're basically wearing high waisted leggings! These were my first pair of high waisted jeans and to be honest, I don't know what took me so long! I'm much more comfortable in a mid or high rise jeans these days (RIP low rise). I got my true size in these, but they do run a big snug with the high waist! But, mine have stretched out a bit with wear.

Lastly, my favorite pair of white distressed jeans. I bought these last summer and have worn them constantly (besides the winter months) ever since! They have good stretch and are mid rise, so I feel a bit more confident wearing them. They are not see through and have butt pockets which is a must with white denim! I would say these run true to size as well.

denim jacket | tee shirt | distressed white jeans | designer dupe booties | similar bag | $8 sunnies

These are definitely my top 3 most worn jeans currently. I also wear this pair quite often and refer to them as my 'church' jeans 😂 Because there is no distressing on them and they are very basic and flattering!

I've linked to several other similar styles to these jeans below:

My Nightly Routine (with Smile Brilliant)

*I was provided a complimentary teeth whitening system from Smile Brilliant in exchange for this review. As always, all opinions are my own! Thank you Smile Brilliant for sponsoring this post!

As a working mom of 2 toddlers, it goes without saying that my life is very busy! On a daily basis, I feel as though I am being pulled in so many different directions. One of the main reasons I started my blog and have continued to post through this busy season of life, is to have my 'me time' everyday. Weather it's just taking the time to post on social media, post on the blog or follow along with other blogs and bloggers that inspire me.

I also look forward to spending the end of every busy work day at home with my family. Once the boys are in bed, I spend the last hour before I go to bed just relaxing and enjoying my 'me time'. During this time, I may write a blog post, catch up on a show, sip on a glass of wine and maybe have a snack. Usually around 9:30pm or so I start to get sleepy, so I will start my nightly routine. For the past month I've been coupling my skin care routine with Smile Brilliant's custom teeth whitening system and I've seen a huge difference in the color and brightness of my teeth!

It is no secret that I enjoy my daily cup (errrr... cups...) of coffee in the morning and a glass of wine or 2 during the week. So, it goes without saying that my teeth have started to yellow and stain over time. I had tried the over the counter teeth whitening systems in the past, but never really saw great results with them. And the teeth whitening procedures at my dentist's office were out of my budget. So, I was really happy when SmileBrilliant reached out to me for this collaboration!

Once I received my welcome package, I immediately opened it and started to make the molds for my custom teeth whitening trays. They made it so easy with step by step instructions on how to make the molds for the custom trays. Once the molds were dry, I placed them in the pre-addressed envelope that was provided in my kit and sent them off in the mail. Only a week or so later, I received my custom trays!

Once I received my custom trays, I was ready to start the whitening process. Smile Brilliant provides you with the teeth whitening gel as well as a desensitizing gel with your custom trays. I simply apply a thin layer of the whitening gel to the top and bottom trays and put them in my mouth to start the process. Because the trays are custom, the trays fit comfortably into my mouth and after a few moments, I forget they are there! I usually keep them in for about 45 mins to an hour (can keep them in for up to 3 hours). This is when I might finish up a blog post or catch up on a tv show before bed. Once I'm done, I just take them out, rinse them out, then brush my teeth as normal. I'll apply a small amount of the desensitizing gel in the trays and put them back in for about 20/30 mins while I wash my face and complete my nightly skincare routine.

I've been using the trays now for over 6 weeks and I have definitely noticed a difference in not only the color, but the decrease in visible stains on my teeth. With so many other obligations during the day, it's so nice that this process doesn't interfere with anything that I wouldn't normally do! I can whiten my teeth while I blog, catch up on social media, or just wind down at the end of a busy day.

I'm so happy that I get to offer my readers 15% off your Smile Brilliant order (with code: llstyling15

AND Smile Brilliant and I are hosting a GIVEAWAY! One lucky participant will win $149 credit towards their very own Smile Brilliant custom teeth whitening system!
