Life Lately + Big News!

Oh hey there blogger world! I swear I am still here! Life with 2 under 2 has been keeping me pretty busy these days, but I still like to check in here at my little creative space every now and then. So, here's what's been going on lately in my little world...

Over the weekend we drove 5+ hours to Bill's hometown for his friend's wedding festivities. Bill was in the wedding so we spent 4 days at his parents house with the 2 boys and our dog. We barely survived car ride with 2 carseats and me crammed in between them in our Jeep Cherokee. After feeling claustrophobic the entire time and seeing how much crap you really need to cart around with 2 littles ones, we both decided it is time for a mini van! I told myself I'd never be 'that mom', but honestly I'd rather be comfortable traveling with my little ones than worry about being a 'cool' mom. Plus, we are planning to drive to Columbus with both of them at the end of September, which is an even longer drive. So, I'm hoping we have one by then! Any van recommendations welcome. I think we are leaning towards the Honda Odyssey.

Once we got there, we had a great time! And I loved having the grandparents' help with the boys. I love going to Bill's parents house because they live on a large piece of land with farms all around. They have a huge garden, which to me (from suburbia land) seems like a farm! They grow all types of vegetables. Camden took his first tractor ride! He seemed to like it!

(They also grow pumpkins! Bill's mom carved the boys names in their own pumpkins which I thought was adorable!)

The wedding was a lot of fun too! Of course, I could only stay at the reception for a few hours before I had to leave to feed Bennett, but it was nice to be able to dress up and be social away from the boys for a few hours. One of Bill's cousins baby sat the boys at his parents house while we attended the wedding and reception. I wore this dress (on major sale right now!), this necklace and these shoes (bought from Amazon!). The dress was the perfect post baby dress because it wasn't form fitting. I loved the shoes, although they started to hurt my feet towards the end of the night but that could be because I'm not used to wearing heels! Unfortunately, I didn't get a good picture of us at the wedding...FAIL!!

Bennett has his 2 month appointment today (he was 2 months on the 28th)! I'm not looking forward to the shots, but am curious to see how much he has grown. This boy loves to eat! I think he would nurse all day if he could. His reflux is getting a bit better and I don't know if it's the Zantac or the fact that I've cut out dairy from my diet, but we are sticking to both for now. He's starting to sleep a bit better at night too! He usually goes down around 8-9pm and last night slept until almost 4am! Those 5-6 hour stretches of sleep are glorious!

In other big news... I decided to start working part time again! It was something I had been contemplating for the past couple of weeks. Being a stay at home mom of 2 under 2 is probably the most challenging job ever! I was missing the balance between work, life, home, kids, etc. When I told Bill he was completely supportive and we decided to try taking Camden back to his old daycare 3 days a week while I work part time from home. My old company was so gracious to let me have my position back and I'm so thankful they had not filled it yet! I'm hoping this will be a good balance for everyone. Camden is at the age where I feel like he needs so much attention and is on the go all day. It was just hard for me to give him the right amount of attention with the baby all day. I love his teachers and I also love that he will get some social interaction and be able to blow off some steam for a few days during the week!

So, that's what's been going on in my little world! I hope to keep this little blog going as well! Hopefully, I will start to be on a better schedule now and will be able to post more regularly.

PS - I can't believe it's almost September already?!!

Tuesday Randoms

Happy Tuesday! I thought I'd share a few random thoughts and confessions today, so here we go...

1. Loving... that the weather is finally starting to cool down and we are loving it! The past few weeks with the temps in the high 80s and 90s I just felt like it was too hot to be outside with Bennett and Camden would just beg to go outside and play all day long. Now that the temps are more in the high 70s, we are enjoying a lot of outside play and family walks. There's something about just going outside when it's sunny that lifts my mood immediately! And the boys seem to love it as well.

2. Not loving... That poor little Bennett has started to have a bad case of reflux. It started around 5/6 weeks and has gotten increasingly worse over the past few weeks. Some nights it takes us over an hour after his last feeding to settle him down before bed. I remember Camden going through a similar phase, but I think Bennett may have it a touch worse. We just got a prescription for Zantac and hoping that helps!

3. Excited for... FALL! Football season, boots, plaid, pumpkin spice... All the fall things. Especially looking forward to wearing my new fall clothes and booties!

4. Looking forward to... Actually dressing up for a wedding this weekend! Bill and I will be traveling to his home town for one of his best friends' wedding this weekend and we are bringing the boys along with us. We have a baby sitter for during the wedding and reception so it will be our first official 'date night' with out the babies! I didn't find a dress I loved, so I will be wearing an Old Navy shift dress I bought a while ago with this necklace and these shoes I scored from Amazon!

5. I confess... I wear these tee shirts and a pair of these shorts just about everyday! I have an assortment of colors in the tops and have about 5 pairs of the athletic shorts. They are just so comfortable and easy to throw on in the morning and perfect for hanging out with a newborn and a toddler on the go! Someday I will wear normal clothes again, right?!

6. I also confess... That I finally got my hair highlighted over the weekend and I love the color! However, I had to cut the appointment short because I had to go home and pump. So I left the salon with half wet, frizzy hair! #breastfeedingproblems

7. Lastly... Can we make a final decision on the snapchat v. instagram stories debate? I'm trying to keep up with both, but I'm thinking that the IG stories may win just for the fact that I can keep everything on one app? But, IG stories does not have any fun filters that keep me and my toddler entertained during the slow times in the afternoon or in the grocery store lines... That's all I have for now! Hope you all are having a great week!

Follow Up from My Last Post

First of all, thank you to those that commented on my last post. It is so comforting to hear from fellow mamas who know what it's like to feel a bit overwhelmed at times! This is why I love blogging so much, we can all relate to each other on a personal level and not just a surface level. Yes, I really love blogging about fashion, home decor, baby things, etc. But I really love sharing what's really going on and the 'real' side of life because I know that's what you all can relate to and those are the posts I love reading from other bloggers as well. And thank you Katie for giving me a shout out on your blog this week too!

Love this boy to pieces!

Secondly, I really didn't want that post to come off like I was complaining about my life. I know I am extremely lucky and blessed to have the opportunity to be home with my boys full time. There are so many moms out there that wish they could stay home with their kids and I don't want to take this privilege for granted. I love my boys so much it hurts and I want to give them the best of me at all times. Because Bennett is so new and needs a lot of attention it's been difficult to divide my time between my newborn and toddler who also demands my attention constantly as well.

However, being a second time mama I know that this is just a phase. Everything with babies is just a phase. I know he won't always be this fussy in the evenings. I know he will eventually be able to fall asleep on his own without being rocked or held. I know he will eventually sleep through the night (hopefully around 3 months like his brother did!). I KNOW it will get easier... But, right now it is tough! And sometimes we just need to vent! I'm so glad that so many other moms feel the same and it makes me feel a little less crazy. :)

For now, I am focusing on loving everyday I get to spend with my boys. I am going to make sure they both know how much I love them and hopefully we can all get through this 'tough' time together.

Oh and thank goodness for grandparents! Bill's parents came in town to help while Bill traveled for work for a few nights and it has been such a relief to have the extra hands around the past few days. Like, the fact that they took both boys and our dog for a walk to the park for an hour which allowed me to type this post is amazing!

Yes, this is a tough phase, but we will get through it. And the best part about my new 'career' is seeing their smiling faces everyday!
