My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Purchases

Are you completely over the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale posts yet? I'm still shopping and have found some great steals that are actually still in stock! I didn't order anything until closer to the end of our trip because I wanted to make sure we were home when the boxes arrived. So, I missed out on some of the hot items that sold out quickly like this long sleeve tee (although it is still available in some sizes and colors). But, I am happy with the items I've purchased so far! The sale is going on through August 6th, so keep checking the site for restocked items if any are currently out of stock.

I went a little over my normal monthly budget (ok, like 3 times over), but Bill and I agreed to purchase some bigger items now while they are on sale as long as they are quality, staple items that will last a long time. I'm ok with spending a bit more for a quality item (like a handbag or shoes) if I know I will get a lot of wear out of them.

So, here is what I've ordered so far...

1. Lush Raw Edge Side Slit Tee (ordered a medium because smalls were out of stock, reviews say they run a bit big)- Yes, probably the most popular $15 tee shirt ever! It sold out so quick! I didn't think I'd be able to get one, but I checked back a few days ago and saw a medium available in grey so I ordered it. I think the small would fit me best, so just waiting for it to arrive to see if the medium will work. *Everyone that has purchased this says you can still wash and line dry it even though it says dry clean only.

2. Caslon Rounded V-Neck Tee (ordered smalls, reviews say TTS)- I ordered the 'Beige Rainy Day' color and the 'Grey - White Julia Stripe' in smalls. Waiting for these to arrive to try them on! I'm sure if they fit, I will be wearing these non-stop.

3. Ruffle Cold Shoulder Sweater (ordered a small, runs TTS) - Yes, the cold shoulder trend is here to stay for fall! I received this sweater this week and I LOVE it! It is the perfect soft, not to heavy, not too light weight sweater material. And I love the ruffle detail on the shoulders. I'm thinking about wearing it for a date night or girls night when it starts to get chilly out!

4. Zella Cropped High Waist Leggings (ordered small, runs TTS) - I love love love these leggings! I have the regular length ones which I bought last year during the sale, so I had to get a pair of the cropped ones! I love the high waist because it really sucks everything in and is perfect for playing with the kids since I'm bending over all the time!

5. Kut from the Kloth Mia High Waist Skinny Jeans (ordered a 4, they fit TTS with some stretch) - I knew I wanted to order a new pair of jeans from the sale, but I wasn't ready to spend as much as these AG jeans. When I came across this pair, they just seemed like a winner. I mean, you can't go wrong with a pair of high waisted, dark wash skinny jeans. AKA the most flattering jeans you can buy! I was so happy these came in this week and they fit like a glove! Although, they are a bit too long on my 5'2" frame, so I'll have to get them hemmed a bit, but other wise I love them! They have some stretch to them which is nice and the high waist is really flattering. I also ordered these jeans, but they are back ordered and won't come in until August.

6. BP Lightweight Rib Stitch Cardigan (ordered a small in black, runs TTS) - I love this cardigan and so glad I snagged it while it was in stock. Unfortunately, it looks like it is sold out, but keep checking back to see if they will restock them. There are some great choices for cardigans on sale. This one and this one are very similar in look and price.

Now for my 2 splurges! I knew I wanted a pair of good transitional booties and a new handbag. It has been a few years since I've splurged on a handbag so I knew now was a great time to invest!

7. Vince Camuto Karinta Block Heel Bootie - When I saw a few bloggers post about these peep toe booties I immediately put them in my cart. I just love the color, detail and the block heel. I also don't currently own a pair of peep toe booties, so I like the fact that I can wear these in the late summer and carry them into fall. I have another pair of Vince Camuto wedges that I bought a few years ago and I just love the quality of this brand's shoes, so I knew they would be a great pick!

8. Tory Burch Frida Leather Satchel - Probably my most exciting purchase in a while! I have been wanting to splurge on a new handbag for quite some time, but I just never felt like it was the right time with our moving, and so many other expenses that have come up. I finally felt like it was the right time to invest in a handbag that I know will last me several years! I've been carrying this black Kate Spade cross body for several years now, so I wanted a bag with a more neutral tone and in a larger size. I'm kind of a handbag snob (fun fact, I used to work on the Nordstrom handbag department for a bit right after college!), so when I buy a handbag it has to be great quality! I love that it is a satchel style with the rolled handles and comes with a cross body strap so you can wear it a few different ways.

*I added a widget on the right sidebar at the top of the blog so you can easily shop all the items I've purchased so far from the Nordstrom sale. Or you can shop below by clicking on the image of the item.

What have you purchased from the sale? What are your favorite items?

Happy Friday and happy shopping!

OBX Family Vacation Recap

I'm baaaaaaack!! Did you miss me? Sorry for being MIA on the blog lately, but we were so busy having fun on our family vacation to the Outer Banks last week! The week actually flew by and now I'm slowly working on getting back into the swing of reality.

I wanted to share a few photos and highlights from our trip. We were in Corolla, NC which is just north of Duck and Kitty Hawk (which are popular spots in the Outer Banks). We stayed in a 5 bedroom, 4 bath house right by the beach with it's own pool which was so nice! We had plenty of space for all 3 of our families and kids plus the grandparents. There were 8 adults and 5 kids, all of which were under the age of 5 (and 3 of which were babies!)!! So, I wouldn't necessarily use the word 'relaxing' to describe our vacation, but it sure was fun!

Ever since I told Camden that we were going to visit the beach this summer, he hasn't stopped talking about it. He loves sea creatures, fish, sharks, etc and we always have to visit the aquarium when we go to the zoo because he loves it so much! So, I was really excited to see his reaction to seeing the beach for the first time. He wasn't so sure about the sand at first, but after a while he learned to love it!

(cover up - only $14 and comes in a lot of colors! | sunglasses

Bennett enjoyed sitting in the sand, although he tried to eat it several times so I tried to keep him away from it while we were there! But, he loved being at the beach and watching the waves, sticking his toes in the water and watching the seagulls. I also brought along this portable, sand/water proof beach blanket which worked perfect for him and the babies to sit and crawl around on.

(my suit - I love this one!)
Camden also really loved swimming in the pool! Unfortunately, I didn't get any photos at the pool. But, we loved using this puddle jumper and this float for Bennett while in the pool. Camden woke up every morning asking if he could go swimming! I think we have a little fishy on our hands!

I was also happy that we were able to get some good family photos on the beach. I brought along my nice camera, lens and tripod in order to get some nicer quality photos of everyone and their families. It was quite the task to get everyone dressed and ready for the pictures, but it was all worth it in the end when we saw the results!

(my dress - on sale for 40% off! Runs small, I am wearing a medium)

I was especially happy that we got a photo with the grandparents and all the grandkids! Bennett's face cracks me up in this pic!

We also were able to pull off a family photo of the whole group!

All in all it was a fun trip! If you'd like me to post more specifics about traveling with the boys or tips on what to pack for toddlers/babies going to the beach, let me know in the comments and I'll work on a post!

Hope you all are having a great week so far!

Favorites from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

We are currently enjoying some family vacation time in Corolla, NC, but I wanted to pop in and share some of my favorite picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I wouldn't be a true 'style blogger' if I didn't post about my sale picks 😉  (If you want more info on the sale as far as dates and when you can shop the items then visit this post from last week.)

Why this sale is important: Because most, if not all of the items are NEW items that are marked down significantly for a short period of time. After the sale is over, the items will go back up to full/retail price.

What I suggest buying from the sale: Staple items for fall... Think boots, booties, denim, leggings, sweaters, cardigans, scarves, handbags, etc.

Here are my top picks form the sale broken down into categories:

Lounge Wear

As you can tell, some of these items are already sold out! So, definitely act fast if you have any items in your cart!

Happy Shopping!

Amazon Finds + A Few Vacation Outfits

one piece swimsuit (only $22!) | cover up (only $14!) | donut floaty

Hey guys! I'm busy packing for our family vacation to OBX today (leaving tomorrow! Everybody panic!), but I wanted to pop in quickly and share a few recent Amazon purchases as well as share a few outfits/items I'm packing for myself.

First off, how cute is this palm leaf one piece?! Natalie (East Coast Chic) shared it on her instagram and instastories and I decided I needed it for our vacation! The other suits I got were black or solid color, so I felt like I needed a fun/bright suit to mix it up a bit. It's actually really flattering, has good behind coverage, it criss crosses in the back AND it's lined with removable cups! The quality actually surprised me with the price point! So, if you are still looking for a fun one piece for summer definitely give this one a try!

Also, I ordered this cover up with the suit and I love it as well! It's actually a bit sheer, which you can't tell online (but, I don't mind that). It also comes in a lot of different colors. And of course, everyone needs a donut floaty, right? And I might have picked up the matching drink floaties as well... I mean, there's going to be adult beverages being consumed when we have 5 kids under the age of 5 under the same roof for a week... I think that is the only way to survive! 😂

I also scored this moisturizer, this iPhone flash drive and these shoes for Camden from Amazon Prime Day. What deals did you guys snag?

off the shoulder top (comes in other colors) | necklace | shorts (most sizes out of stock, but similar here and here, which are currently buy one, get one 50% off!)

Here are just a few outfits I'm packing for our trip. Most of the time, I'm sure we are just going to be in bathing suits with the kids at the pool or beach, but I thought I'd bring a few fun outfits in case we go to town or go out to dinner.

Also, if you've been living under a rock... Then, you may not have heard about the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. We might not have the best wifi reception where we are going, but I am hoping to post at least once next week on specific items I'm loving/adding to my wish list from the sale. If you have a Nordstrom credit card, you have early access to the sale items (and may have already purchased some!). If not, the sale goes live to the public on July 21st. So, now's a good time to add items to your cart to purchase when they are available to you. Make sure to purchase them FAST because these sale items always sell out very quickly! And, they will all go to retail/full price after the sale is over.

I've added a 'Nordstrom Anniversary Sale' tab at the top of the blog so you can see all of my top picks from the sale. I'm hoping to break it down into categories for some upcoming posts to make it a bit easier for you guys. Stay tuned!

Blogger on a Budget | A New Series + 2 of the BIGGEST Sales of the year!

(above outfit details and links on this post)

Hey guys! I decided to start a new series on this bliggity blog of mine all about shopping on a budget. Yes, I post photos and links of recently bought items on my instagram and on the blog, but what you may not know or realize is that I actually have a shopping BUDGET. That's right... I'm not just spending my money on clothes and accessories all willy nilly, ok?!

So, I'm sure you're wondering how I come up with an amount to spend on clothes and accessories? Bill and I have a monthly budget that we like to stick to. He is all about the Dave Ramsey way of paying off all debt and having a safety net in the savings account. So, monthly budgeting is a necessity to work towards saving and being debt free. We obviously make sure all the necessities of life are paid for first, then add a specific amount towards savings and paying down debt. What's left over we divide up to all the 'extras' like eating out, entertainment, clothes and extra misc things we need to buy for the month. We are also working towards saving to complete some house projects in the near future, so that is my motivation to save vs. spend.

My monthly budget is typically around $200 - $300 (that's including buying for the boys), but I like to stick near the $200 mark so I can contribute to our savings account as well. You might be thinking, 'Wow! That's a lot!' or 'Wow! I spend way more than that per month on clothes!' just depending on your own personal spending habits, but I wanted to be honest and tell you so that I can 1. hold myself accountable for that specific budget, and 2. So that you understand how I shop and am able to save money by shopping online AND looking out for deals/sales.

First off, let's talk SALES. It is a great time of year to take advantage of a bunch of sales going on in the online apparel/accessories world. I wouldn't be a true 'style blogger' if I didn't let you know about the TWO BIGGEST SALES OF THE YEAR that are happening this month:

1. AMAZON PRIME DAY: starts at 9pm on July 10th (that's right, today) for prime members. If you are not a prime member, now is your time to sign up! I seriously use Amazon prime probably once per week to order things for myself and our family. It is the bomb dot com (literally).

I shop on amazon for literally everything. Makeup, clothes (like this top), toys for the boys, diapers, these meal prep containers (my most recent purchase). If you are a busy mom, or just busy in general, having a prime membership is completely worth the money. You get free 2-day shipping on so many items. There are also so many other benefits of being a prime member like photo storage, movies and tv shows, the list goes on.

2. NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE 2017 (July 21st - August 6th) is another very popular sale of the year! So many designer brand (and affordable brand) NEW items marked down for a limited time. This is a special sale because after the sale ends, they items go back up to retail price. It is a great time to stock up on those basic or high end must haves for fall and winter (so you won't be kicking yourself for not getting them when the temps drop). If you follow any other fashion related blog, I'm sure they've already mentioned this sale!

If you have a Nordstrom credit or debit card, you are able to gain early access on July 13th - 20th, before the general public (non-card holders) are able to shop the sale items. I have a Nordstrom debit card, so I am so excited to see what will be on sale in a few days! You can sign up for a Nordstrom card here.

You can get the first look at some of the items that will be offered in the sale here: NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE 2017 CATALOG: FIRST LOOK.

SO, my first tip on how to shop on a budget is to know what sales are happening and when. Then, make sure to save your money and shop during these big sales.

I just made an amazon purchase a few days ago because I wanted to make sure we had a few items for our upcoming family vacation. So, I don't have anything in my amazon shopping cart at the moment, but I will be browsing the deals they are offering tonight!

I'm excited to have early access to the Nordstrom Anniversary sale this year again since I have a Nordstrom debit card. We leave for our family vacation on Friday, so I'm not sure I'll be able to get to the actual store to try anything on on Thursday, but I will definitely keep you posted with what I find online! I'm planning on adding a 'Nordstrom Sale Favorites' tab at the top menu of my blog sometime this week, so make sure to check back for updated items I add to my wish list.

Are you planning to shop either of these sales?

Friday Five

Hi guys! Welcome back to another Friday Five post! Here are five things I'm loving from this (rather short) week:

1. I just picked up this lip gloss from my local Target and I am loving it! I got it in shade 'radiant rose' and it is the perfect mauve/pink for my skin tone. It also lasts a lot longer than any other drug store lip gloss I've owned. Like I don't have to reapply every 10 minutes.

2. This palm tree sweater is oh-so-comfy and perfect for those chilly, rainy summer days. I paired mine with these shorts yesterday and I love the combo! It is currently on sale for less than $15, so go snag it before it's sold out!

3. If you follow my instastories, you know I recently got my hair cut and I'm finally figuring out how to style it. I absolutely love the shorter 'do and I think I may keep it this length going forward! A lot less maintenance!

4. I found a few more 'mom-bod' friendly one-piece suits from Target that I plan to wear on our upcoming family trip to Outer Banks (affiliate links here and here). They are really flattering and perfect for family vacation with the boys!

5. I think we are taking the big boy bed plunge this weekend with Camden! We have a double mattress that we are just planning to put on his floor for now. I picked up these sheets (also ordered these sheets bc they were out of stock at the store) and this quilt for his bedding. I'm also planning to order these sheets because he loves trucks, planes and all things that go at the moment, so I know he will love them! Any tips on making this transition from fellow toddler mamas out there?? I'm a bit nervous!

Happy Friday!! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Our 4th of July Weekend

Our holiday weekend in a nutshell: splash pad fun, over eating, ice cream, pizza, grilling out, the boys' first parade experience, candy, long naps and (thankfully) sleeping through fireworks... Yes, this 4th of July weekend was definitely one for the memory books!

Sunday afternoon (post naps) we loaded up the car with the boys in their swim suits and headed for the Powell Splash Pad. It was a popular spot because it was really hot and sunny that day, but it wasn't too over crowded to have some fun. I tried to explain to Camden what a splash pad was on our way there (since he'd never been!) and told him it was kind of like a playground with sprinklers. He just looked at me with a deer in headlights, "what?" look. Until we arrived! He was so excited when he saw all the water works and sprinklers all over this fun play area! He took off running as soon as we got there!

Bennett also enjoyed the little sprinklers too! Although his facial expressions may not seem that way 😂

(Bennett's swim suit linked here - on sale! And his hat is here

(Camden's rash guard is Old Navy | swim trunks are H&M last year - he finally fits into them!)

Camden was having so much fun that we had to bribe him with ice cream on the way home to get him to leave!

On the 4th we took the boys to the Hilliard Independence Day Parade and met up with Bill's brother and sister-in-law and their 6 month old baby (the boys' cousin). This was the boys' first parade experience and Camden was in heaven! Music, trucks, cars, police cars, tractors, candy... All his favorites! Bennett also loved the music and enjoyed watching the vehicles from his stroller. There was a float with bubbles that he really loved and I swear I heard him say 'bubble!' and pointed to the bubbles!

Camden loved seeing all the big trucks and this big tractor!

He went home with allll the parade swag! Lollipops, tootsie rools, sunglasses and a flag that he carried around for the rest of the day! I'd say his first parade experience was a success!

We ended the holiday with a grocery shopping trip and grilling out for the evening. Then, after the boys went to sleep, Bill and I listened to the fireworks while catching up on some House of Cards on Netflix. That's patriotic, right?!

How was your holiday weekend?
