NSale Try On Session + What I Bought + Sale Must Haves

**Just FYI - You can shop all these sale items now if you have a Nordstrom card. If not, and you are planning to shop when the sale goes live to the public on the 20th (tomorrow), you can still add these items to your cart now so you are ready to check out as soon as it goes live!

*Also, a lot of these items were sold out before I was able to get this post up. However, a lot of times they will come back in stock so if they are available in your size, snag them asap!

Ok... that's kind of a long post title! I meant to post this on Friday, but time got away from me! But, I wanted to share with you all not only what I tried on in Nordstrom last week, but also what I bought AND the top items I would recommend purchasing.

First, let me go ahead and share what I actually purchased in store. I went in thinking I would only buy a light weight jacket and maybe a pair of booties... I came out with one pair of jeans and 3 tops?! I figured that it was best to try on the clothing items I was unsure about size wise, then the jackets and shoes that I pretty much knew what size I would get if I ended up ordering them.

First, I bought this incredibly SOFT button down thermal. I LOVE this top and I definitely think it will be a top selling item for fall. I love that you can either button it all the way down or unbutton the last few buttons and tie it in the front. **This top runs BIG, I suggest sizing down (I'm wearing an XS).

Original price: $39 | Sale price: $25.90

(This top is currently sold out, but may come back in stock. Found a dupe for $19 with free shipping HERE!)

Here it is tied in the front with this faux leather jacket over. Speaking of this jacket... I'm kind of sad I didn't bring this one home with me... It is so good! And has a removable hood!

Here is the jacket with the hood on... I'm wearing a size small and I would say it runs true to size. Comes in two other colors.

Original price: $98 | Sale price: $64.90!

I missed out on this striped long sleeve tee last year, so I made sure to snag it this year! Such a great staple piece for fall and is perfect for layering as well (with cardigans, vests, jackets, etc). Runs TTS, I'm wearing small.

Original price: $29 | Sale price: $18.90!

I also picked up one of these raw edge, v-neck tees in the 'Pink Cedar Liz Stripe' color (right image). I have a few of these tees in solid colors and I LOVE them! They are so soft and light weight and long enough to cover your bum, or you can front tuck or knot the front. These run big in my opinion, I sized down to an XS.

Original price: $17 | Sale price: $11.90!

I also bought these raw hem, distressed black jeans that I'm wearing in all these pics! They fit great and I needed a new pair of black denim for the fall. And they are a great price! I would say these run true to size, I got my true size 27 (4).

Original price: $59 | Sale price: $38.90!

Some other items I tried on that I loved are below!

I loved how cozy this cardigan was! It was a bit too long for me (I'm 5'2") so I would have to go down a size so I'm not swimming in it! I'm wearing a size US4 here.

Original price: $79 | Sale price: $49.90

(Pink color is sold out, but found a similar pink over sized cardigan with free shipping HERE)

I also tried on this soft (like suede) BLANKNYC drape jacket. I didn't necessarily love it paired with what I was wearing and I'd probably pick a different color that would work better for my skin tone, but I love the style of this jacket! Runs true to size, I'm wearing a small.

Original price: $90 | Sale price: $59.90

I absolutely LOVED this Leith ribbed cocoon cardigan! It is SO soft and lightweight and would be a perfect transition piece for fall. Runs true to size, I'm wearing a small.

Original price $69 | Sale price: $45.90

This was a close second runner up to the thermal button down. This thermal henley top is made with the similar light weight, super soft material. Such a great layering top or wear it on it's own! Runs true to size, I'm wearing a small.

Original price: $38 | Sale price: $24.90

This was definitely one of my favorite sweaters from the sale! This exposed seam sweater has the  perfect flattering fit and long enough to wear with leggings! Runs slightly large in my opinion, I'm wearing a small here.

Original price: $45.00 | Sale price: $29.90

This balloon sleeve sweater is definitely going to be one of the more popular items from the sale! I love the style of this one with the crewneck and shorter length. Runs true to size, I'm wearing small.

Original price: $49.00 | Sale price: $31.90

It just wouldn't be fall with out the perfect soft plaid button up shirt! I am loving the green plaid and now have this top in my cart to order! Runs true to size, I'm wearing a small.

Original price: $49.00 | Sale price: $31.90

Last, but not least, I tried on this Taylor Shift Dress (in the color 'Ivory Black Stripe') and I loved the way this dress fit. It was a little long for me, so I would probably need to order a petite size (I'm 5'2", wearing an XS). I love that this dress has pockets! Would be great for the office for my working ladies or church, family functions, etc.

Original price: $49 | Sale price: $31.90

That is all that I was able to try on in the store. I also wanted to share with you all my top 5 MUST HAVE items from this sale. Some of these I already own, so that's why I didn't buy them this year...

#NSale Must Haves

#1. Zella leggings - 2 words... high waisted. I now own 3 pairs of these leggings (one pair is a cropped version) and I basically live in them in the fall and winter! They are listed under the 'active wear' category, but I also wear them as regular leggings with over sized sweaters, cardigans, boots, etc. The are really thick and will keep you warm in the winter!

#2. Hunter boots - I bought my pair of Hunter boots over 5 years ago in discount for $125. I wear them EVERY fall/winter and they have definitely been worth their price! I use them as rain boots and snow/cold weather boots. The fact that Nordstrom has a pair in the anniversary sale for $99 is amazing! I would jump on these!

#3. V-Neck tees - Stock up on these! You will wear them all the time and they are great for layering in the fall and winter. Plus, their only $12 on sale! (Size down, they run a little big)

#4. High waisted skinny jeans - Aka the most flattering pair of jeans you own. These are the jeans you wear like leggings. Layer with sweaters and wear under tall boots. This pair looks perfect!

#5. Long sleeve tee - Another staple item for your fall/winter wardrobe. Run true to size.

#6. A cozy cardigan - There are so many great options for cardigans in the sale this year! This is a similar style to the one I purchased last year from the sale and I wore it a lot last season!

(You can shop all my NSale picks HERE)

Lastly, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to my followers that are so supportive of me, my blog, facebook group and instagram account! As you know, I do not do this blogging thing full time, it is a side biz/hobby of mine and I truly LOVE it! The fact that I can make a small amount of money from something I enjoy is so rewarding! Everything I make in commission, I invest back into the blog (aka I use it for shopping 😂). I hope that I help to inspire you!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 | What I'm Loving and How To Shop

It's HERE!!!! Christmas in July!!! Aka the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is now live (for card holders). You can still sign up for a card today if you want early access. I have a Nordstrom Debit card that I got a while ago and unfortunately, they don't offer the debit cards anymore. I've heard you get a $40 Nordstrom note the day that you sign up for the Nordstrom card, so that is a great incentive too!

What I'm Shopping For

This sale is a great opportunity to stock up on items you may need for fall and winter. Last year I bought a handful of tops, a few sweaters, a pair of jeans, booties (which ended up being back ordered and I canceled because I waited to long to buy them) and my Tory Burch handbag.

This year, I'm thinking of purchasing a new pair of booties, a neutral cross body bag, some layering pieces, maybe some jewelry. I'm also looking for a light weight jacket. That's it! Just looking for some staple pieces for my wardrobe.

I will fill you in with what I buy and my reviews on the items next week, but below I've linked to items I found online that I'm loving!

Also, make sure you're following me on instagram because I may attempt to make it in the store today to try some items on!

Red, White & Blue! Bennett is TWO!

We had such a fun time this past weekend celebrating Bennett's 2nd birthday! I had planned for the theme to be Red, White and Blue just because it was the weekend before the 4th and it rhymed with TWO! Also, it helped that there were a TON of cute red, white and blue decorations out in stores... Mainly, the Target dollar spot which is my jam!

The party was in the early afternoon, so we just ordered some pizza, I made a few side dishes and my mother-in-law made the cupcakes! I wanted this party to be as easy and casual as possible!

I got most of the decorations at Target and a few from Party City, but you can find a lot of similar items from Amazon (I linked some similar decor items below)!

I made this American flag layered Mexican dip which was a hit! I also made a really easy pasta salad (cooked spiral pasta, cherry tomatoes sliced, mini cucumbers sliced, crumbled feta cheese, garlic expressions dressing) and set out some chips and salsa and puff corn for snacks.

My mother-in-law made the yummy vanilla and chocolate cupcakes! I just added some fresh strawberries and blueberries on top to coordinate with the colors (and Bennett loves berries!).

We also had a lot of fun water activities set up outside for the kiddos! The big hit was this inflatable slide pool (similar here and here) ! Make sure to get this air pump to make the set up go a little faster!

We also had a baby pool and water table set up for the littler ones and a slip 'n slide for the older kids!

This little fold up picnic table was a recent Amazon purchase and it worked perfectly for the kids to eat outside!

One of Bennett's gifts from the family was a play grill! He and Camden are both loving it!

We had such a fun day! As exhausting as it is to plan and host a birthday party, it was so worth it for those smiles on their faces!

Happy Birthday to my sweet Bennett!! We love you!!
