5 Fall Staple Pieces Under $50

I have been wanting to share a fall capsule blog post for so long and as soon as I sit down to write it I come up with a list a mile long! So, I challenged myself to pick 5 Fall Staple Pieces that I wear throughout the season. The kicker being that they have to be under $50. After having this thought, I messaged some of my best blogger friends and they loved the idea as well! So, we are teaming up for a fun giveaway over on instagram this week! We are giving away a $250 visa gift card to one lucky winner! For details on how to enter, make sure to follow me on IG!

Now on to my 5 Fall Staple Pieces Under $50

1 | LEGGINGS

One reason Fall is my favorite season is because I get to pull out my most comfortable pair of pants that is acceptable to wear out of the house. That's right, you guessed it...LEGGINGS! It's leggings season friends! And I have found some great tunic length tees, sweaters and sweatshirts that work perfectly with my favorite leggings. THIS PAIR is a great 'dupe' for the Zella leggings and have great quality and are less than $26 with prime shipping. Shop my favorite leggings under $50 below...

2 | BLACK DENIM

I always think of fall when I see black jeans. They go perfectly with the plaid tops, the chunky sweaters and booties! I found the most comfortable pair recently from Old Navy! They are jeggings, so they have the elastic waist band (score!) and the distressing on them is perfect. They have a distressed hem and are slightly shorter making them the perfect length for booties. Linking some of my other black denim favorites under $50 below...

3 | PLAID TOP

Plaid is probably the first thing I think of when I think about dressing for fall. A flannel or plaid button down top is a must have in your wardrobe. This plaid tunic button down is so soft and I just love the colors! Linking all of my favorite plaid tops under $50 below...

4 | TUNIC LENGTH SWEATER

This v-neck tunic length sweater is perfect with leggings! It also comes in tall and petite sizes for length. I have this oatmeal color, but it also comes is so many pretty colors for fall! These sweaters can be easily layered with a vest, blanket scarf or jacket.

5 | BOOTIES

Finding a pair of cute booties under $50 can be challenging. However, I am pleasantly surprised at the quality and comfort level of this pair and this pair of booties from Target! Both are under $38 and run true to size. The taupe ones are the perfect neutral shade that will go with everything, but I'm also loving these cognac ones that are perfect to match with all the warm tones for fall.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 | What I'm Loving and How To Shop

It's HERE!!!! Christmas in July!!! Aka the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is now live (for card holders). You can still sign up for a card today if you want early access. I have a Nordstrom Debit card that I got a while ago and unfortunately, they don't offer the debit cards anymore. I've heard you get a $40 Nordstrom note the day that you sign up for the Nordstrom card, so that is a great incentive too!

What I'm Shopping For

This sale is a great opportunity to stock up on items you may need for fall and winter. Last year I bought a handful of tops, a few sweaters, a pair of jeans, booties (which ended up being back ordered and I canceled because I waited to long to buy them) and my Tory Burch handbag.

This year, I'm thinking of purchasing a new pair of booties, a neutral cross body bag, some layering pieces, maybe some jewelry. I'm also looking for a light weight jacket. That's it! Just looking for some staple pieces for my wardrobe.

I will fill you in with what I buy and my reviews on the items next week, but below I've linked to items I found online that I'm loving!

Also, make sure you're following me on instagram because I may attempt to make it in the store today to try some items on!

#WIW Wednesday

I'm back with the 3rd edition of my #WIW Wednesday series. This past week has been a little hectic with trying to work and have Bennett home with me 3 days a week (Camden goes to daycare those days) since he is starting to be much more awake during the day. He starts daycare next week and will be going to the same 'school' as Camden. I'm slightly nervous about taking my baby to daycare! But, I know he will be in good hands because I love the experience that we've had with Camden and his classroom/teachers.

So, I barely had the time to throw on these 2 outfits, but they are good ones! I'm still in the 'transitional' phase of my wardrobe from summer to fall because we've still had some warmer temps around here. However, last week it was mostly in the 60s and actually felt like fall! Yipee!

One of my favorite transitional outfits into fall is the swing dress paired with a blanket scarf and booties or boots. I included this outfit in my Fall Basics series last year and it is still on trend again this season. This time around, I'm pairing the look with booties instead of boots and nixing the leggings since it's still a bit too warm for them.

I'm hoping to schedule a family photo session this fall and I'm thinking about wearing this outfit only wearing a long sleeve swing dress (like this one) instead of the short sleeve one.

My second outfit is also a great transitional look. I really wanted a pair of lace up flats last year, but never pulled the trigger. I'm so glad I bought this pair and am excited to wear them! this look would be great for a date night or grabbing drinks with friends.

Friday Finds | Fall (Budget Friendly) Wishlist

I'm hoping to get back to my #WIW Wednesday series next week, but wanted to share with you what I have on my wishlist/shopping cart for the month of October. All items are less than $100!

I feel like now is the perfect time to wear these long sleeved, crew neck t-shirts just about everyday. There are so many colors to choose from, might as well get a few different ones!

I'm also loving this henley style long sleeved shirt. I would pair it with this pretty, light weight scarf (only $19!).

Speaking of scarves... Can one have too many plaid scarves? I think not. I love the colors of this plaid square scarf. Perfect for the upcoming holiday season!

I'm on the hunt for a good pair of distressed skinny jeans for fall as well and this pair seems like the perfect fit. And the price tag is right on point, only $64!

I've had my eye on these black nikes for a few months now and I think it's finally time to pull the trigger. They would be the perfect every day shoe for running errands and chasing around a busy toddler. They would fit quite nicely with my 'momiform' of these leggings and t-shirts too. :)

I've been searching for a good casual, date night clutch for a while and I think I finally found one! This black fold over clutch would be perfect for date night or girls night out. It's also only $25!

What's on your fall wishlist?
Happy Friday and happy shopping!

Friday Finds : Fall Basics

Just wanted to post a quick Friday Finds for you guys today! I'm starting to get the fall shopping itch and came across these goodies while browsing nordstrom's site this week. I think each one is a staple item for your fall wardrobe. And the best part is that each piece is less than $100!

I can't say enough about this blouse. I purchased it during the anniversary sale and now it's on sale again for only $25.20!! It is the perfect girls night or date night top. Pair it with some dark wash skinny jeans, lace up heels and your favorite necklace and you're ready to go!

There's nothing better than a cozy, oversized sweater on a chilly day. I love this one with a big cowl neck that can be worn off the shoulder.

Black and white stripes are still in for this fall. This striped, long sleeve tee will definitely be a staple item in your fall wardrobe. You can layer it with a military vest or pair it with a blanket scarf

A military jacket is a great transitional outer layer for fall. This one is the perfect neutral shade and is a great everyday jacket!

I hope everyone has a great 3 day holiday weekend! My parents are coming to visit this weekend and I'm so excited to see them!

Happy Friday and Happy Shopping!

Fall Basics || 3 Thanksgiving Outfits

Can you believe we are a week away from Thanksgiving?
This month is moving along entirely too fast!

I'm here with my final installment of my Fall Basics series. This week it's all about dressing for my second favorite holiday of the season... The great feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, casseroles, stuffing and pies!

When it comes to dressing for a great feast, like Thanksgiving, you want to have comfort in mind. Particularly in the lower half/pants region. Enter the leggings. My friends, if you do not own a comfy pair of leggings and boots this season, you must get to shopping stat before next week!

Below I have 3 Thanksgiving outfit options for you that each include leggings, boots and my favorite plaid scarfs (#basic).

Outfit #1

The swing dress is one of my favorite trends currently. Not only are they flattering, but they help hide the middle section which is perfect if you are planning to over indulge.

And I know you are thinking, "short sleeves?"
Yes, short sleeves. Think about being in a home full of people with an oven that's been cooking a turkey all day. You'll get hot. And if you're chilly, that's what the scarf is for! Or, you can have this adorable cardigan on hand just in case.

Outfit #2

chambray shirt dress || plaid scarf || leggings || boots || socks

This chambray shirt dress is a recent random purchase that turned out to be a winner! It is loose and comfy and still makes me feel put together when I put it on.

Outfit #3

striped long sleeve tunic || puffer vest || plaid scarf  || leggings || boots || socks

I love the layers of this one. The tunic is long enough to wear with leggings (it's even longer in the back). I suggest sizing up in the shirt, it runs a bit snug up top (of course, I'm a bit top heavy), but is loose at the middle.

There are my top 3 outfit picks for Thanksgiving!
Now, which one should I wear?

Fall Basics || Tailgate Ready

This past Saturday, I attended the OSU home football game against Minnesota Golden Gofers. The fun part was that my husband was the OSU mascot in college (Brutus Buckeye) and they were honoring Brutus' 50th Birthday! He was invited down on the field at half time along with over 50 other past Brutuses to help celebrate. We had amazing seats only 5 rows from the field!

I always loved tailgating. In my 20s I would have made it a point to go to campus every home game, even if I didn't have tickets just to tailgate and socialize with friends. Now that I'm a bit older, I have to be honest and say I enjoy watching the games from the comfort of my home a bit more. But, it's always fun to get to go to at least one game per season. There is nothing like the energy and excitement felt at an OSU home football game!

It was pretty chilly that night so I made it a point to layer up. I wore a heavy OSU sweatshirt, puffer vest (that I recently found from h&m!), leggings, my new Sperry quilted rain boots and warm socks. I also brought along a heavier puffer coat just in case it got even colder (which it did).

The outfit I put together above is not only perfect for tailgating, but for any crisp, chilly fall evening!

I'm loving these funnelneck sweatshirts from j.crew factory. They look so cozy! Of course, I'm also a big fan of the puffer vest and they help to add an extra layer of warmth. I wore these leggings, but I recently found these fleece lined leggings on nordstrom's website that I may have to add to my legging collection! Duck boots are my new obsession and Sperry has a great line of them available right now. I bought these quilted rain boots that I've been wearing non stop. I also love this shearwater flannel boot option from J.Crew!

This is the second to last post in my Fall Basics series. Next week I'll be sharing Thanksgiving outfit options. November is going by so quickly already!

What do you typically wear to tailgate?

Side note: Bill and I had an amazing anniversary dinner Monday night! Thank you all for commenting and wishing us a happy anniversary!

Also, it's my birthday today! I'm spending the day off work shopping and eating with my favorite people... my mom, Camden and Bill later in the evening! The perfect birthday day! :)

Fall Basics || October Round Up

If you've been following along with my Fall Basics series, you know that I am currently working on bulking up my fall wardrobe 'capsule' if you will. In the month of October, I purchased a lot of what you see above as an 'investment' (that's what I'm telling my husband). Some items are on trend, and some are just classic pieces that I know I will wear again next year.

Here's a round up of my Fall Basics staple items from last month:

1 || This long sleeved striped tee is a staple in my weekly outfits. I currently love the stripes and plaid combo, so it pairs perfectly with my plaid scarves. This striped tee is so comfy and it's less than $10!

2 || THE perfect tunic. I wore this for our family photos and I've worn it a few other times last month as well. It's perfect to pair with leggings or you can tuck it in for a more polished look. I love this tunic so much, I'm seriously contemplating getting it in white and a few other colors. This really pretty blue color is on sale for less than $26!

3 || The quilted vest is a must have for fall. The one I got from Old Navy is a bit less bulky than the puffer vests from J.Crew factory, so it's more just to polish your look. This puffer vest from J.Crew factory is on my wish list for this month now that it's getting a bit colder!

4 || A cozy blanket scarf. If you follow me on IG, you know I am a big fan of the blanket scarf! This particular one is still out of stock, but I've linked to several other similar ones below...

5 || A good pair of leggings is also another must for fall. I love layering tunics and over sized sweaters with leggings and boots! Nothing better!

6 || A neutral tote/satchel bag. I bought this one from forever21 with the intentions to 'try out' the satchel style bag to see if I liked carrying it before I splurge on the one I really like. I'm so used to shoulder bags and crossbodys that I was afraid I wouldn't like this style. However, I've been using this one almost everyday and I love it! I like the structured feel and look. And the price tag is very friendly (less than $30!).

7 || Red crossbody bag. As soon as I saw this bag on forever21's site, I knew I had to get it! It is almost an exact dupe of the Rebecca Minkoff 'mini mac' crossbody bag and I love that it gives my dull fall color outfits a pop of red!

8 || Leopard clutch (on sale for $15!!). Of course, I would love to own this leopard clutch, but this one is a more budget friendly version. It's the perfect date night clutch!

9 || Leopard pumps. I've wanted a pair of leopard pumps for a while and when I saw this pair at target, I had to snag them. I love the fit and style of these pumps so much and they go with so many different outfits!

10 || Hunter boots. It's almost embarassing how often I wear these. It's been a bit rainy and chilly recently, so I have loved having these to run errands, grocery shopping, etc. Definitely an investment that is worth the money! (PS - Apparently, Nordstrom is price matching them to Costco's price of $79 for the original tall boots. I am not a Costco member, so I am unable to buy them at this price. I believe you have to be a member of Costco and they have to have the correct color and size you want. But, then why not just buy them at Costco?!)

The items I already had in my closet were the Hunter boots, leggings, tunic (bought in September) and the quilted vest (also purchased in September). The rest were all new purchases this month. I'm working on a November wish list of items I'd like to add to my closet (and because my birthday is coming up!) that I will post soon!

Shop all the items above plus similar items here:

Happy Fall Shopping!

PS - Can you believe it's November already??

Fall Basics || Mixing Patterns

striped long sleeve tee (less than $10!) | blanket scarf (out of stock, similar here and here) | jean leggings | boot socks (similar) | hunter boots | satchel | ray bans

It is really starting to feel like fall now. This week it has been quite frigid in the mornings. We did have a sunny day in the afternoon on Monday, but the rest of this week is looking chilly, grey with some showers. This outfit is my go to on cold rainy days. This blanket scarf (out of stock currently, but I've linked to similar ones below) is so warm and is literally the size of a blanket! I've been meaning to do a post on how to wear a blanket scarf, but for time's sake if you need some inspiration, click here

One of my favorite fall trends this year is mixing stripes with plaid. This striped long sleeve tee is so comfy and it's less than $10!! I've also 'invested' in a similar white striped long sleeved tunic that I love for layering with my blankets scarves.

I can't believe it's just a few days away from Halloween and it will be November next week!
Our neighborhood's Halloween is tomorrow night and I can't wait to get Cam dressed to go trick or treating! We probably will only make it to a few houses, but it will be fun!

Happy Wednesday and happy fall shopping!
