I always turn to Old Navy for my staple items for my seasonal wardrobe. Fall is a great time to stock up on your lightweight jackets, cardigans and sweaters for the transitional weather. I found some really cute items for fall lately from Old Navy and I'm excited to share them with you! Let's get started!

This right here is my favorite basic outfit for fall! Leggings, tunic tank, denim jacket and comfy sneakers are my jam!

These swing tanks are perfect to wear with leggings! They come in tall and petite sizes too if you need the extra length to wear with leggings. I suggest sizing up for the denim jackets. I'm linking to a really great pair of high waisted compression leggings that I tried on in store last time I was there.

Target Shirt Dress Styled 4 Ways

You could say this is the perfect transitional dress going from summer to fall! I love the utility style of this dress so much because you can dress it up or down. Perfect option for work or play! And best part, it's under $28!!

This dress comes in 3 colors including this pretty burgundy, yellow and grey. I suggest sizing down if you are 5'4" or shorter for length, other wise you should be good with your true size. I am 5'2" and am wearing an XS for reference.

I have been wearing this dress on it's own with flats or sandals now since the weather is still very much like summer! It is really great for these hot summer days because it's so flowy! This is a perfect wear to work then wear out to dinner or drinks. Or would also be perfect for parent teacher orientation, events, etc.

One way to transition it to fall is to add a denim jacket, booties and a hat! Perfect for apple picking, pumpkin patches, fall weekend get togethers, etc.

Another way to transition this dress to fall would be to add a blanket scarf and tall boots. I'm loving this look for fall family photos!

Last, but not least... For my working ladies, this would be perfect if you work in a business casual office or would be a great teacher outfit. I live this dress with the leopard belt and you can throw on a long cardigan if it gets chilly!

I am working on a Fall Capsule Wardrobe post for you guys and hoping it will be done by the end of the month! But, wanted to share this dress in case it goes out of stock!

Honeycrisp Apple Recipes

(my outfit: jeans | plaid top | vest is sold out, but found an exact dupe on Amazon HERE | riding boots, budget friendly version HERE)

We had a fun trip at the apple orchard this past weekend and came home with a big bag of yummy honey crisp apples! (By the way, if you are local to Columbus, the Orchard and Company is a great place for apple picking with the kids! So many fun activities, hay rides, farm animals, pony rides, pumpkin patch, corn pit, etc!) This year I was determined to actually try out some different recipes with our apples (rather than let them sit on our counter and rot like previous years 😬). So, off to Pinterest I went to pin alllll the apple recipes!

If you caught my instastories the past few days you know I've been making a lot of crockpot applesauce! Mostly because the boys love it and it's pretty easy to make! I also tried out the apple bacon and cheddar quesadillas and they were surprisingly really good! Linked to the recipes below plus some other recipes I'm hoping to try out!

Honeycrisp Apple Recipes

Bloomin' Baked Apples (these look so good!)

Of course your classic Apple Pie or these little Apple Hand Pies look so good!

Also, my favorite fall treat is sliced apples with caramel dip!

Budget Friendly Fall Shoes

Fall is officially in full swing and I am so excited for this year's line up of shoes! I've purchased a handful of new pairs this year to change it up a bit and because I wanted to have a good selection of stylish AND comfortable shoes for any and all outfits.

BONUS - All of my shoes are under $60! Most are under $40!

Here's a breakdown of my fall shoe line up:

Pointed Toe Flats ($23) - These are the perfect shoes for work or play! You can dress them up or down! They come in a handful of colors as well. These fit true to size and also come in wide options.

Bow Mules ($17) - I ordered these shoes from Amazon as soon as I found them! They are so comfortable and such a cute addition to any outfit! (Similar pair on sale under $30 HERE)

Wedge Sneakers ($30)  - I'm so glad I ventured out of my comfort zone with these! I wasn't sure if they were 'my style' but, having them on and seeing them in person, I am converted! I love the wedge sneaker trend and they are just s fun/trendy alternative to your normal sneakers. (Similar pair under $60 HERE | get $10 off at checkout with code: DSWFALL)

Peep Toe Block Heel Booties ($35) - I purchased these last year after I was sad I missed out on the Vince Camuto ones from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. As soon as I saw these at Target for less than half the price, I snagged a pair! I've gotten so much use out of these and they are a great transitional shoe from summer to fall!

Ankle Booties (prices vary depending on size) - Another Amazon shoe find, these were actually less than $35 when I bought them, but are now up to $60. That's one thing about buying shoes from Amazon, their prices can vary depending on demand and availability. BUT, I'm so glad I got these because they are the perfect ankle bootie and the fit is perfect!

Knee High Boots ($50) - These are my newest addition to my fall shoe line up and I'm totally smitten! They look like a designer pair and I just live the detailing at the top. Perfect to wear over leggings or skinny jeans!

Over the Knee Boots ($60) - I ordered these about a month ago and I've been waiting for the temps to drop to start styling them! I've wanted a pair of over the knee boots for a while now, but wasn't ready to drop over $100 for a pair. I'm actually quite impressed with the quality of these for the price! And the retailer is currently running a BOGO 50% off PLUS 15% off your order!

Splurge Worthy Boots

Sam Edelman 'Penny' Riding Boots - I got these boots for my birthday almost 3 years ago and they have held up SO well! The leather is so soft and I just love the classic look of these boots. These are perfect with leggings or skinny jeans and are 100% worth the price!

Hunter Boots - I got my Hunter boots about 4 years ago and have gotten a TON of use out of them the past 4 falls/winters here in Ohio (and Illinois!)!! Rain, snow, sleet, slush... these babies handle it ALL! And they look cute with long socks over leggings or skinny jeans!

Neutral Fall Decor + Our Home Update

one | two | three | four | five | six | seven

It's been a while since I published a home decor post. It's not that I don't love home decor or decorating (in fact I LOVE it!), it's just that it hasn't been a top priority in our lives for the past few years. I kind of felt like our last house in Illinois wasn't permanent so I never felt like truly decorating or making it feel more like our home. Now that we've been 'settled' in our new home here in Ohio, I feel like we are just about ready to really start making it our own.

We have some construction work scheduled to be done in our main living area/great room that will hopefully be completed by the end of October at the latest. Then, we will finally be able to paint over the ugly mustard yellow paint color that is all over the main floor (sorry if mustard yellow walls is your jam... it's just not mine!). However, we were able to paint a handful of rooms in our house including the kitchen, master bedroom/bathroom, Camden's room and the boys' shared bathroom upstairs a month after we moved in. This past weekend we (ok, Bill) painted our front door black and we replaced the hardware which was brass to brushed nickel. It's so rewarding to see the outcome of such a small project! I am so excited to finish some other home projects on our to do list in the near future!

Since I wasn't really motivated to decorate in our mustard yellow room, I decided to go all out in our dining room and front porch/door for fall. I went to At Home and Target for my decorations and found a lot of cute, neutral fall decor. It's not that I don't love all the warm tones of fall, it's just that I'm not a yellow/orange/brown type of person. Does that make sense? I've always gravitated towards neutral or cool tones when decorating, so fall decor has been a challenge in the past. But, I'm loving the neutral fall decor trend right now! I'm a sucker for a white pumpkin and when I saw little white ceramic pumpkins in the Target dollar spot, you know I bought every. single. one! Target is currently killing it with the neutral fall decor! I have this pillow and a set of these pillows on my wish list.

I love the black, white/cream and grey hues with touches of gold mixed in for some warmth. If I had my way and an endless bank account, I'd be buying all of the above items in the collage. In fact, I think I need a set of buffalo check pillows for fall! I don't care if my walls are still yellow for another month! I'm hoping to share some glimpses of my fall decor on the blog and on instgram over the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

Do you love the neutral fall decor look? Or do you stick with the traditional fall colors?

October Favorites

Happy Thursday! Today, I wanted to share some of my favorite purchases and everyday staples from the month of October. Can you believe it is going to be November next week?!

1. $15 Plaid Blanket Scarfs from Amazon. I just ordered and received one of these blanket scarfs and I have to say I'm impressed with the quality given it was only $15! There are 13 different plaid combinations to choose from, so I may even buy a few more! I just love throwing these on over a long sleeved tee or tunic, leggings and boots (aka my go to fall uniform).

2. zella live in high waist leggings. I have been living in the regular zella leggings, so I thought I would go ahead and buy another pair. I decided to try out these high waisted leggings and I love them! The higher waist is much more sliming and flattering. Also helps to keep my mid section warm!

3. Sam Edelman Penny Boots. I bought these boots last year and I am still in love with them! They are so comfortable and go over leggings, jeans, even look good paired with dresses! The leather is super soft and they also come in a wide calf option so you can be sure to have the perfect fit. Bonus, they are also on sale right now!

4. Maybelline color sensational lipstick in blushing bud. I have been looking for a new lip stick for a while and grabbed this lipstick at my local Target recently. The color is just a touch of rosy pink and perfect for my everyday make up. It also goes on really smooth/creamy and stays on for a long time!

5. Maybelline age rewind dark circles eraser concealer (brightener 160). This is hands down the best under eye concealer/brightener I have ever used. I've tried a few different color correcting concealers for dark circles and this one definitely covers them the best and stays on all day long! The pinkish hue really helps to correct the blue/dark circles under my eyes. I top this with a skin toned concealer and then some loose powder to finish the look. I'm hoping to put together a post sharing my 5 minute mommy make up routine soon!

There you have it! I couldn't survive the last month with out these products! :)

#WIW Wednesday

I'm back with the 3rd edition of my #WIW Wednesday series. This past week has been a little hectic with trying to work and have Bennett home with me 3 days a week (Camden goes to daycare those days) since he is starting to be much more awake during the day. He starts daycare next week and will be going to the same 'school' as Camden. I'm slightly nervous about taking my baby to daycare! But, I know he will be in good hands because I love the experience that we've had with Camden and his classroom/teachers.

So, I barely had the time to throw on these 2 outfits, but they are good ones! I'm still in the 'transitional' phase of my wardrobe from summer to fall because we've still had some warmer temps around here. However, last week it was mostly in the 60s and actually felt like fall! Yipee!

One of my favorite transitional outfits into fall is the swing dress paired with a blanket scarf and booties or boots. I included this outfit in my Fall Basics series last year and it is still on trend again this season. This time around, I'm pairing the look with booties instead of boots and nixing the leggings since it's still a bit too warm for them.

I'm hoping to schedule a family photo session this fall and I'm thinking about wearing this outfit only wearing a long sleeve swing dress (like this one) instead of the short sleeve one.

My second outfit is also a great transitional look. I really wanted a pair of lace up flats last year, but never pulled the trigger. I'm so glad I bought this pair and am excited to wear them! this look would be great for a date night or grabbing drinks with friends.

Happy Hump Day and Happy Shopping!

#WIW Wednesday

Welcome to another edition of #WIW Wednesday! This week I have a few outfits that are perfect for the transitioning fall temps. It's all about layers during September because it can be chilly in the mornings and evenings and warm during the day. So, easy take on and off layers are perfect for this month.

I just ordered and received this vest and I love it (bonus, it's on sale right now, almost 50% off)! I had my eye on it last year and just never pulled the trigger. It' not as heavy as it looks, but adds the perfect amount of warmth and style to an otherwise basic outfit.

My basic 'momiform' at the moment is these leggings, tee shirts and comfortable sneakers. If I want to add some style or if it's chilly out and I need to run an errand, I love that I can throw on this vest and go!

vest | bp long sleeve striped tee (similar here) | leggings | booties, express last year (similar here and here) | monogram necklace

This second outfit is a different variation of the first, just adding a long sleeved tee and booties for a more 'weekend' look or if it's a bit too cold for a short sleeved top.

leggings | long sleeved striped top (similar) | booties (similar here and here) | plaid scarf (similar) | monogram necklace

Another great layering piece is a blanket scarf. Did you catch my latest Friday Finds post with all my favorite blanket scarfs out right now? Make sure to purchase them now before all the good ones are out of stock!

Side note: I also bought these cutoff denim shorts in the same order as the vest. Since it is still warm out, I was able to wear them to go apple picking this past weekend! They are so comfortable and on sale right now for $29.50!

Friday Finds : Scarf Season!

top row: one | two | three
bottom row: one | two | three

Scarf season is upon us! It may still be a bit warm out to rock a big, oversized blanket scarf, but you will want to purchase your scarfs for the upcoming season now before they are out of stock. I remember last year, all the good blanket scarves sold out so quickly!

A scarf is a great transitional piece to wear while the temperatures are changing. You can throw one on with a tee shirt and jeans when it's a crisp autumn day or layer it on with a sweater and vest when it gets really cold.

I've listed some of my favorites below, all of which are $40 or less!

Happy Friday and Happy Scarf Season!

Fall Basics || Mixing Patterns

striped long sleeve tee (less than $10!) | blanket scarf (out of stock, similar here and here) | jean leggings | boot socks (similar) | hunter boots | satchel | ray bans

It is really starting to feel like fall now. This week it has been quite frigid in the mornings. We did have a sunny day in the afternoon on Monday, but the rest of this week is looking chilly, grey with some showers. This outfit is my go to on cold rainy days. This blanket scarf (out of stock currently, but I've linked to similar ones below) is so warm and is literally the size of a blanket! I've been meaning to do a post on how to wear a blanket scarf, but for time's sake if you need some inspiration, click here

One of my favorite fall trends this year is mixing stripes with plaid. This striped long sleeve tee is so comfy and it's less than $10!! I've also 'invested' in a similar white striped long sleeved tunic that I love for layering with my blankets scarves.

I can't believe it's just a few days away from Halloween and it will be November next week!
Our neighborhood's Halloween is tomorrow night and I can't wait to get Cam dressed to go trick or treating! We probably will only make it to a few houses, but it will be fun!

Happy Wednesday and happy fall shopping!
