Easter 2017

It was such a beautiful Easter weekend! It was tough to get back into the swing of things after the holiday fun!

On Friday I was home with the boys and we had a fun time dying eggs! I was very brave to let Camden 'help' with the process. They came out pretty good if I do say so myself! I'm so excited that to start these fun holiday traditions with the boys!

Saturday afternoon, our neighborhood hosted a little Easter egg hunt for the kids. Camden had a fun time finding his eggs! He wanted to open each one as he found them, so it slowed him up a bit. But, he had fun discovering all the little trinkets and candy inside each one. Bennett happily observed the all the fun from his stroller. 😊

On Sunday morning we attended church service, then hosted a little lunch at our house afterwards. I was so excited to host a family holiday meal! We hadn't been able to the whole time we were in IL. So, I was excited to decorate the table!

I found the table runner, napkins and napkin rings at Target (the napkins and napkin rings were from the dollar spot!) and I found some cute little ceramic bunnies and chicks from Hobby Lobby to help decorate the center piece to make it feel more festive. I had trouble deciding between hydrangeas and tulips for the center piece vase, but ultimately landed on hydrangeas and I'm so glad I did! I just loved the pretty blue and white ones together.

After lunch (and nap time) we had a little Easter egg hunt in our back yard for Camden. It was fun to see him try to find all the little eggs! It was such a beautiful day out, so we stayed in our backyard for a while playing with sidewalk chalk and bubbles!

I can't believe another holiday has come and gone so quickly! I'm so excited to spend this summer with my boys and to create new memories with them!

How was your Easter weekend?

Life Lately + My Summer 'Momiform'

Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of posting the past week... I seriously sound like a broken record as I type this, but things have been quite hectic around these parts! First, Bill was away all last week for work. Hopefully, his last long week of training for his new position. It was tough being a 'single parent' for even just a handful of nights and I'm SO grateful we live so close to my parents now so they can help when he's away! This was definitely one of the main reasons we wanted to move back here.

And if you read my last post, you know that I've started my Whole30 diet. I am planning to post about my experience so far with some meal ideas and what I've done to prepare myself for this diet very soon, but I want to make sure I gather all the correct information before I share it. Surprisingly, it hasn't been too difficult to follow... Especially, now that I found these compliant coffee creamers #gamechanger. One thing I will say is that I'm spending a lot more time meal prepping than I ever have before in my life! But, it makes all the difference! So, more on that later...

We had a busy weekend with some house projects and Bill's family was in town for his Dad's birthday. We had a full house with 5 cousins under the age of 5! There were 3 babies (all boys) that were all born within 6 months of each other! It was so cute to see them all roll around together!

We got a new area rug for our family room, which has totally helped to soften the space. I love my hardwood floors, but it's always nice to have a big, fluffy rug in the family area to help the house feel cozy. It is desparitely making me want to get a move on with the painting in our house! We have painters coming next week to start 'phase 1' of painting which consists of our bedroom & bathroom, Camden's room, the boys' bathroom, Bill's office and our kitchen. We are still working on gathering quotes from contractors on the other little projects that need to be completed before we paint the main family area and hallways... Oh, waiting is so difficult! Can't wait to show before and after pictures when they are completed!

And now, here is my current spring/summer 'momiform':

Hope you all are having a great week so far!

A Date Night Outfit + Starting Whole30

lush blouse (tunic version here on sale!) | jeans | clutch | wedges (similar here and here) | monogram necklace

Bill and I actually went out on a date this past weekend! We seriously could not remember the last time we went out on a 'date night' with out the kids... That's so sad! I'm hoping to be better about planning our date nights ahead of time, especially since we live by our families now!

We had dinner and drinks at Napa, which is a newish wine bar and grill in our suburb. The decor was very modern and eclectic. There was wood planking on the ceiling, big light fixtures everywhere, a wall of wine bottles... Bill even mentioned that the decor style was very 'fixer upper'!

I had the red wine flight and we shared the tuscan popped corn for an appetizer. I had the crab cake burgers and fries for my meal and it was definitely a great choice!

I'd like to refer to this meal as my 'last hoorah' because I decided to take the plunge with whole30! You can lean more about whole30 here or purchase the book here. I started yesterday and so far so good. I went on a big grocery haul at Trader Joe's and stocked up on all the whole30 essentials like almond butter, fruit bars, fruit, salad mix (this one is my favorite) coconut milk/cream/oil, nuts, LOTS of veggies and meat.

On Sunday, I also started some meal prepping while the boys were napping. I made hard boiled eggs for snacks and salads, egg muffins with spinach and onion, and roasted potatoes and carrots. I tried these Chili Lime chicken burgers for dinner last night and they are not bad! I just grilled up some onion on the side (with coconut oil), added some salsa on top and had some of the roasted potatoes and carrots on the side. It was very filling!

I plan to post a recap of my experience each week with how I'm doing and what I ate. I'll probably go into detail a bit more about why I'm doing whole30 and why I might benefit from it. Hopefully, this interests you guys! If not, let me know!

Hope you guys had a great weekend!
