#WIW Wednesday

Why not start a new series for the new fall season? Last year I brought you my Fall Basics series and shared all my favorite staple pieces for fall fashion. This time around, I'm going to be sharing some real outfits that I wear on a regular basis (What I'm Wearing Wednesday), plus some fun weekend wear and items I've recently purchased. I'm just getting back into shopping for 'normal' clothes (aka non-maternity and post baby clothes). I actually am starting to fit in my old pants, jeans and bottoms again (woo hoo!).

My goal is to post real outfits of items from my closet and new items I purchased so you can see how I mix them together. I've always had a shopping budget since Bill and I have been married and it is something that I really try to stick to. We are all about saving and not having any debt (besides our mortgage), so when I do purchase clothes/accessories/shoes, etc I like to make sure I will get a lot of wear out of them. A lot of the items in my closet are basic pieces, but mixing them different shoes, handbags and accessories makes them feel like they are new!

This week I have a few outfits with items I recently added to my wardrobe, including these leggings and this dress. Both items are going to be staple pieces for fall!

striped top (similar only $19!) | zella leggings | converse shoes | monogram necklace

This outfit will be on heavy rotation this fall. First, being a mom of 2 under 2 'athleasure' (as they call it) is my new best friend. These leggings are the best I've ever owned. They are thick and non-see through and suck you in around the mid section. Perfect for post baby bodies and really flattering on anyone. I bought the striped shirt last year and have linked to a similar one that is only $19! The brand of the one I'm wearing is Stem and I love their tops! I also own a few sleeveless tops from Stem and all their shirts are sooo soft and comfortable!

dress | bp necklace (similar) | booties (less than $35!)

I am so glad I purchased this dress during the nordstrom anniversary sale. It is the perfect LBD for fall and winter. It is a heavier material that just feels like a high quality fabric and does not wrinkle. I love that it has sleeves too! It is such a flattering dress and is perfect for all body types. It also comes in 3 other really great colors for the fall season.

I also recently scored these black booties from Target for a great price! I have some tan colored booties and thought I'd add a pair of black ones to my closet this season.

I can't wait to wear this outfit on a date night or girls night in the next few months!

I can't wait to share some more outfits with you next week! I recently made a few purchases of some vests that I'm excited to style.

Happy Hump Day and Happy Shopping!

Labor Day Weekend Recap

My parents came for a visit this past weekend, which was just what the doctor ordered! It had been over a month since I'd seen them. The weekend was filled with playing, cuddling, over eating and football watching. The perfect way to end the summer.

Saturday, we got all dressed in our OSU gear to watch the first OSU home football game of the season. A part of me was sad that I wasn't in Columbus for the first home game. Some of my friends texted me photos of them tailgating and I was definitely jealous. But, we had our own little family tailgate at home and having my parents there definitely helped. They got the boys cute little matching OSU shirts and Bill was so excited to hang our OSU flag on our house, so we had to take some family photos. OSU actually played my alma mater Bowling Green, so I would have been happy if either team won. Of course, the Buckeyes won (by a lot)!

Sunday, My parents took Camden to Phillips Zoo Park near us which is a big park with a small zoo inside of it. He loved it! Bill and I got to spend some quality time with Bennett at home while they were there. Bennett is becoming so smiley and loves to coo and 'talk'! It's nice to just be able to focus our attention on him every now and then. And Camden had such a great time at the park that he was exhausted when they got home.

Unfortunately, Camden woke up with a fever Monday morning and I could tell was not feeling well. My parents were so upset they had to leave while he was sick. But after a dose of Tylenol and a 3.5 hour nap, he was back to his normal self in the afternoon with no fever. So odd toddlers can have a fever for half a day and then go back to normal?!

We also spent some time looking at Honda Odysseys this weekend and I think we are going to pull the trigger on one very soon! Just don't call me a #soccermom yet... :)

How was your holiday weekend?

I'm linking up with Biana for Weekending.

Friday Finds : Fall Basics

Just wanted to post a quick Friday Finds for you guys today! I'm starting to get the fall shopping itch and came across these goodies while browsing nordstrom's site this week. I think each one is a staple item for your fall wardrobe. And the best part is that each piece is less than $100!

I can't say enough about this blouse. I purchased it during the anniversary sale and now it's on sale again for only $25.20!! It is the perfect girls night or date night top. Pair it with some dark wash skinny jeans, lace up heels and your favorite necklace and you're ready to go!

There's nothing better than a cozy, oversized sweater on a chilly day. I love this one with a big cowl neck that can be worn off the shoulder.

Black and white stripes are still in for this fall. This striped, long sleeve tee will definitely be a staple item in your fall wardrobe. You can layer it with a military vest or pair it with a blanket scarf

A military jacket is a great transitional outer layer for fall. This one is the perfect neutral shade and is a great everyday jacket!

I hope everyone has a great 3 day holiday weekend! My parents are coming to visit this weekend and I'm so excited to see them!

Happy Friday and Happy Shopping!
