Dinner with the Fire Fighters + Other Weekend Happenings

Well, Camden's dream came true Friday night when we had dinner with REAL firefighters! My grandmother had won a 'dinner for 4 with the Westerville firefighters' at a local charity event and only bod on it because she knew Camden would get a real kick out of meeting them! They greeted us at the fire station and gave us a full tour of the place and showed us a lot of their cool fire fighting gadgets and equipment. They even let Camden sit inside the fire truck! He was in heaven!

During the tour, there was an alarm that went off and we got to actually see the fire fighters jump inot one of the trucks and start the sirens. Camden was so excited and the fire fighters that was with us held him up to watch the truck drive out of the station.

After our tour, they invited us to join their spaghetti dinner with the crew. I think Camden was too excited to eat, but he chugged about 2 full glasses of the chocolate milk they offered him. I was able to get him to sit still at least for one picture with the fire fighters!

Camden was on cloud nine the rest of the night and it took some extra coaxing to get him to go to bed that night, but I'd say it was worth it to see how happy he was!

Saturday night Bill and I went on a date night! I feel like it has been a while since we have been on an actual date on a weekend night, so we were due! We decided to go to Gallo's Tap Room in Powell since our realtor that helped us find our house here in Dublin is part owner with her husband. We've been meaning to go for a while and Saturday was the perfect night because the buckeyes were playing a night away game. We were able to snag some great seats at the bar to watch the game! The food there was so good! We also went to Prohibition for the last quarter and enjoyed the loaded fries and cocktails (totally worth the calorie overload!). But, now I'm feeling like I need to majorly crack down on my diet and exercise this week to make up for it!

What I wore: this sweater (so lightweight and soft, perfect for fall) | distressed black skinny jeans (currently 40% off!) | booties (currently on sale for less than $35!) | monogram necklace

Sunday we just relaxed in the morning with the boys (because parenting after a date night is rough...). Then, in the afternoon, our neighborhood hosted their Fall Festival in the park area across from our house. We took the boys and even though they were a little to young to enjoy a lot of the games and things going on, we still had a fun time chasing them around and chatting with our neighbors. We had beautiful weather yesterday too, so it was nice to get outside and enjoy it while it lasts!

Weekending

It was a cozy fall weekend that flew by so quickly! Bill's parents were in town Friday and Saturday, so we spent a lot of time just at home with them. I think they really enjoyed the quality time with little Cam man. It was chilly and drizzling most of Saturday, but the men were able to complete a few house projects and rake leaves. Bill and his dad actually got a new toy (a leaf vacuum/shredder) to help clean up our lawn. It works pretty well!

Saturday night we were able to sneak away while the grandparents watched Cam for a date night! I always look forward to our fancy date nights when we have the chance to get out.

We went to dinner at Oscar's in Dublin. The food was phenomenal! Neither of us had ever been to Oscar's before and we were very impressed. It's a pretty non-assuming place on the outside, but inside it has a nice bar and dining area. I ordered the scallops with cauliflower mash and green beans. The sauce with the scallops was a sage browned butter with almonds and capers. So amazing! Bill ordered the fillet with blue cheese, mashed potatoes and a wine sauce. Of course, we also enjoyed a few glasses of wine because #yolo.

Of course, now that we are old a few glasses of wine equals a next day headache. Since when did I become such a light weight?! So we spent the majority of the day in our PJs, but we were able to get out of the house for a nice walk around the block. It was a gorgeous day!

I can't believe it is already Halloween week! I picked up a few goodies at my local Target last week to help get me in the mood. I've been so obsessed with Camden's outfit, I hadn't really planned anything for myself?! I think I may use those devil horns... in a creative way :)

Weekending + Recent Purchases

Another fall weekend that flew by! I was feeling a little under the weather with a head cold end of last week and this weekend (sorry for the lack of posting), so we didn't do too much. One thing that I was determined to accomplish was decorating our front porch. We didn't make it to the pumpkin patch this year, but I'm hoping we can take Cam next year when there may be more of a chance for him to remember the experience. I was able to get a cute picture of him with some pumpkins, so that makes me happy. Thanks to our local Home Depot, we got pumpkins, straw and mums for our front porch. I also picked up this festive door mat at Target. My heart was so happy!

That was pretty much the highlight of the weekend, other than watching football and spending some quality time with my boys. I'm starting to feel a bit better now and Cam is showing no signs of catching what I have/had, thank goodness.

We also worked on baby proofing the house now that we have a mobile baby! He is crawling and pulling up on everything and of course goes stright for what he shouldn't! We also dropped the crib matress to the lowest level because he's been standing up in his crib... He's growing up too quickly (que the cry face emoji)!!

Another highlight of the weekend was this awesome mail day I had at the end of last week:

Each of these items were under $30! The red crossbody bag (also comes in black and white) is almost an exact replica of the Rebecca Minkoff 'mini MAC' crossbody bag. I have been coveting so many RM bags, so when I saw this one on F21's website I knew I had to snag it! I also decided I really wanted a satchel bag. They seem to be the current handbag trend and I'm not ready to fork over a lot of money for one at the moment. When I saw this satchel bag (also comes in black) I thought I could try this one out for a while to see if I like carrying it before I splurge.

These leopard heels are so perfect and the price is just right! I have been eyeing this Halogen pair for a while and this pair from Target is a pretty close match, but priced over $70 less!

So here's your Save vs Splurge for the week:

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Quick Weekend Recap

I'm officially in love with cozy, lazy fall weekends with our little family.

Friday night I made a big pot of easy and delicious chili (recipe post coming tomorrow) for dinner. We were in our PJs by 8pm and watching Dateline like old people by 9 and in bed by 10pm. We are super exciting, I know!

Saturday was so cold and rainy. I had plans to maybe take Cam to a pumpkin/apple farm, but we decided to stay in our PJs all day, eat left over chili and watch football. I did, however, get a 5 mile run in Saturday morning at the gym. I can at least say I got out of the house!

Sunday we had a nice little family brunch at Scrambler Marie's and then we all headed to the grocery store for a little meal planning for the week. Our local store actually had a pretty decent display of pumpkins in the front so I thought, what a great photo op for our little pumpkin!
Sunday afternoon was spent at a friends house for a baby playdate. There were 5 babies (Cam was the 'oldest' baby) and 3 toddlers (triplets)! It was so fun to see how Cam interacted with the other babes. He is such an observer! I'm hoping to schedule more playdates in the future and can not wait for all these babes to be buddies when they get older!

Alas, there were no mums or pumpkins purchased for our front porch. This needs to happen this week! I'm craving more fall decor in my life!

Weekend Recap

It was a bitter sweet weekend. Poor Cam came down with his first (what I think is a) cold. He has been so stuffy and cranky for the past few days. He's also been really warm and clammy, but hasn't had an extremely high temp yet. A part of me says teething, but another part thinks it's something more. Luckily, we have his 9 month appointment today so maybe we will get some answers!

Needless to say, we didn't plan much for the weekend. It was kind of nice just relaxing at home and not having to rush anywhere. I'm just trying to enjoy these leisurely weekends while they last because we have a busy September.

Here are a few pics I snapped:

|| We did manage to get out of the house and go for a walk at a local park. I think it was good to get him some fresh air! ||

|| Bill put together this new storage unit for Camden's books! We desperately needed more storage in his room. Before those books were spilling out of bins and on the floor... ||

|| We dined al fresco on our patio Saturday night with some Trader Joe's frozen pizza and homemade salads. I gotta say, I don't hate date nights at home. ||

|| Got these products as recommended from some friends. Anyone use these on their babes? I tried the teething tablets and the baby rub and they seemed to help. I'm a little nervous to try the saline mist... ||

Yesterday was spent soaking in baby snuggles and trying to make my poor little guy feel better. He seemed to feel a bit better towards the evening so here's to hoping he's on the mend!

Weekend Recap

Oh, that time when I posted too many photos of my baby in a baby pool? Yea, that was today...

We had such a fun weekend! It was so nice/sunny/hot out, but perfect weather to break out the baby pool! Cam just loves splashing away in that water. I have a feeling he will be a little fishy and love swimming.

It was so hot out that I decided to join him. :)

We also had a great time with Bill's family who were in town for a visit. We grilled shish kabobs and had fresh sweet corn on the cob from their garden. Perfect summer meal!

Cam even helped his grandpa shuck some corn!

My parents baby sat Cam on Saturday night so Bill and I could have a date night. We went to dinner and were planning on going to see the movie Train Wreck, but ended up talking and enjoying dinner so much that we skipped the movie!

I felt like I tried on so many outfits, but landed on all black. Boring! But I decided to dress it up with my Kendra Scott necklace

Sunday evening we celebrated my brother's birthday at Bonefish Grill with my family. Camden went with us and he was a ham the entire time and stole the show! We are getting to feel a lot more comfortable with taking him to restaurants now. He even sat in the highchair like a big boy!

I can't believe how fast this summer is flying by. I'm glad we got to enjoy the season this weekend!

Weekend Recap

Another weekend came and went just like that! At least this weekend we saw hope that Spring is finally here and the worst of the winter is over (can I get an AMEN)!

Bill had been traveling most of the week and got home late Friday night, so we just laid low. Saturday morning I was up and at 'em ready to work out! I went to a Body Works plus Abs class at my gym. It was all stregth training and core work which is what I need. Let me just say that this girl can not hold a plank for very long! :/ I'm hoping to continue to work on strength training to help firm up my core and also to help my sore back.

Saturday evening my parents babysat Cam so we could have a date night. It was in the 50s and I decided to boycot the boots and coat in celebration!

{flats - Target (old) | Old Navy jeans | sweater Michael Kors - TJMaxx | Kate Spade watch similar | Kate Spade iphone case}

We had a nice dinner at Macaroni Grill. We actually gave up a table to sit at the bar. I don't know what it is about sitting at the bar at a restaurant, but sometimes I love it. You feel like you're in the middle of the action. I guess I'm not so romantic ha!

Sunday, we decided to take a family outing to the grocery store and to shop for a new sectional for our family room. Camden did really well the whole time and didn't make a peep. He just kind of looked around everywhere.

We found a sectional that we like, but just need to order it in a different fabric. I really wanted something in a light grey for the room. I think it will be perfect! Only downside is that we have to wait 6 - 8 weeks for it to arrive... sad face!

Left fabric is for the sectional and the other 2 are for accent pillows.

My parents, grandma and brother came over for dinner last night. Unfortunately, since Cam didn't nap very well during the day he was really fussy at night :/ I've noticed that if he doesn't get good naps during the day that it affects him in the evening and he becomes increasingly fussy right before bed. He was so upset that he didn't even finish half his bottle. We were thinking he may be teething too since he has been wanting to chew everything and has been drooling a lot, but it seems too early for that?!

Sorry for posting this so late in the day! I was having some internet issues this morning!

Weekend Recap

I'm just popping in quickly for a little recap of my weekend! My In-Laws were in town Friday through Sunday evening and I had not one but TWO baby showers for my friends! 2015 is the year of babies for sure and I can't wait for Camden to have more baby friends to play with!

Needless to say, it was a busy weekend so didn't really have time for a full recap, but I will leave you with this cuteness...

I mean... Can you even with this outfit??

He went with me to the shower on Sunday and he was definitely the Ladies' Man!

I'm trying to get better about taking him to new places so he gets used to different surroundings and people. Of course, there was no lack of arms to hold him!

Happy Monday friends!

Weekend Recap

Sorry for posting late! Time got away from me this morning...

I started my weekend with a 3 mile run at the gym on Friday evening and we ended the night watching the first episode of the new House of Cards season! what does everyone think so far? We only got through the first 2 episodes this weekend so no spoilers please!

On Saturday I met a few of my girl friends for brunch/lunch at Katalina's Cafe Corner. I had heard great things about this place and it definitely lived up to the hype! Although the space is tiny and the line was out the door when we got there, the food was worth the wait! I had the Pueblo BLT sandwich with their famous sweet and spicy bacon. This was THE best BLT (if not sandwich) I've had in my life! We also shared some of their very famous Pancake balls which were a little piece of heaven in my mouth! They are essentially pancake balls filled with Nutella with a warm syrup dipping sauce... Yummers!!!

It was so nice having some girl time this weekend while Bill babysat baby Cam.

The rest of Saturday afternoon and evening was spent with my baby boy while Bill attended a diaper party. We worked on some tummy time. He's getting pretty strong, but still has some trouble lifting that big ol' head of his! :)

Sunday we went over to a friend's house for a little play date with our babes! My friend Erica had a baby early January, so they are pretty close in age. It was so fun to have them meet each other and play together :)

Of course, I wanted to get Camden dressed up for his play date, but he was not happy when I took him out of his comfy PJs! I need to dress him up more so he gets used to it :/

I'm so excited for more play dates with the MANY new babies that are going to be born this year! I feel like there are so many 2015 babies in my life which makes me happy to think about all our future play dates! I'm excited to see Camden and the babes grow and become great friends!

Weekend Recap + Oscar Favorites

I can't believe it's monday already! This weekend flew by!

Friday night I made it to the gym for a workout which felt great after a long week. Friday night we just stayed in, made dinner and caught up on Better Call Saul (anyone else watching this? I'm not sure how I feel about it yet).

Saturday morning was spent cleaning up the house and getting ready for Bill's parents to come and stay with us for the night. They babysat for us while we went on a date night to one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus, Martini Modern Italian. My favorite dish there is the Butternut Squash Tortelloni. It is the perfect winter comfort meal!

I know we are really lucky to have both sets of our parents willing and able to babysit. I really love our date nights and hope to be able to keep up the tradition of date night at least twice a month.

Sunday we spent more time with Bills parents while they were in town. We had a big lunch from Hoggy's. Bill's mom and I lounged with Camden while the men worked on mounting our flat screen in our family room and other little house projects.

Sunday evening was spent in my PJs watching the Oscars! Did you watch them? What did you think?

Here were my favorite looks:

I know the necklace was a little much on Scarlet, but I love the dress!!

Bradley looked so daper and I really wish he would have won best actor!

Weekend Recap

Sorry for being MIA at the end of last week. Still trying to adjust to my new part time work schedule and taking care of Cam. I'm sure we will settle into more of a routine as time goes on.

I wanted to share some of my favorite things on Friday including the Sally Hansen miracle gel polish. This stuff actually works pretty well. I just did 2 coats of the color below (Dig Fig - more of a deep maroon with 2 coats) and one coat of the top coat. I did my nails on Wednesday night and they are still looking ok today. Just a little chipped near the top, but I could do a quick fix and add another coat of the top coat and I bet they would last another 5 days. Way better than regular polish and so much more cost effective than the real deal!

My babe turned 12 weeks old on Thursday! I can not beileve he is almost 3 months old! These last few weeks he has really grown and is showing more of his amazing personality. My favorite part of my day are morning smiles and snuggles with him!

We had sort of an uneventful Valentine's Day. We decided to just stay in since the temps were so frigid outside! The hubs did come through with these beautiful flowers though and they made my day!

Of course, I had to dress Camden for the occasion! My friend got him this cute onesie from Carter's.

Can you handle those baby jeans?

Saturday night I woke up with a fever and my left boob hurt so bad. I found out I had mastitis which is an infection from breastfeeding/pumping. I've been laying low and taking antibiotics to get better the last 24 hours so I'm hoping to feel back to normal soon. Ughh! What we go through for these babes!

Anyone watch the Bachelor last night?! What the heck is Britt's deal?

I have the SNL 40 episode dvr'd and can't wait to watch it tonight!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was spent mostly at home with my little family of 3 (4 if you count Charlie, our pup). Bill had to leave to go to Austin for a work trip early Sunday morning so we spent some quality time together at home Friday and Saturday nights.

Friday evening I attended my first Zumba class at my gym in over a year. I remember loving Zumba before I was pregnant. Growing up I was very involved in dance and miss taking dance classes a lot. Zumba is the closest thing to dancing that I've done in a while. It's great because it is a mind workout too! It's hard ot keep up with all the moves! I logged my workout in My Fitness Pal and it said I burned almost 500 calories in one class! This may be a weekly tradition if we don't have plans on a Friday.

Saturday was spent at home just cleaning and doing some house chores. I was also getting my home office ready for me to return to work this week (more on that tomorrow). I also found the perfect curtains and some throw pillows for our family room so Bill helped to hang them. I seriously tried out 5 different sets of curtains and finally found some that I like in the room. We are still hoping to get a new sectional in there soon. I will post before and after pics when it's all done ;)

I also had fun playing dress up with Camden (Daddy is a fan of the TMNT, so he approved). I really need to start getting him in normal clothes everyday and out of PJs! :/

Saturday night I made this recipe for BBQ Chicken Chili. I actually simplified it a bit and only added black beans and also used a can on Rotel diced tomatoes and chilis instead of adding jalepenios. I used Sweet Baby Ray's Chipotle Honey BBQ Sauce which was perfect for the chili with it's kick of spice and balance of sweetness.

Mom and Dad came over Sunday afternoon to babysit while I ran some errands. I ended up at TJMaxx and spent the rest of my February clothes "allowance"... whoops! I got some good deals though, so happy about that.

I always enjoy getting out of the house for a little "me" time.

Sunday night was spent watching the Grammy's and the premeire for Better Call Saul. Anyone else what it? What did you think?
