Countdown to Christmas | Vol. 3

Welcome to Volume 3 of my Countdown to Christmas blog posts! Can you believe we only have 5 more Mondays after this one until Christmas?! 😱 This time of year always flies by! So, I have decided to start my Christmas shopping a little earlier than normal this year because I always feel like I'm scrambling in December. The hardest people on my list to buy for each year are the MEN! Anyone else feel this way? Bill is super picky about things and prefers quality over quantity so he hardly ever shops for himself. I usually like to get him something nice every year but I struggle with what to get him. I think I've narrowed iit down to a few things. He travels for work and is in need of some new travel essentials like a toiletry bag, luggage tag (love that this one has a USB charging cable in it!), and new carry on luggage (I'm hoping he's not reading this!!).

I have rounded up my best finds for gift ideas for the guys on your list! Wether they love to grill, travel, or just relax at home, there is something for everyone!

I have also been searching around online for some holiday table top decor and I found some really pretty options from Walmart! I put together this little collage below with some of my favorites. We already have a buffalo check table runner, so I wanted to be able to incorporate that.

Countdown to Christmas | Vol. 2

Hello and happy Monday! It's Veteran's Day AND my birthday so a lot to celebrate! First, I want to pay respect to all the past Veterans that have fought for our country and have helped keep freedom alive! Thank you all so much for your service!

Over the weekend we celebrated Bill and my anniversary, our Nephew's birthday and my birthday! So it was definitely a fun weekend. Yesterday, I spend some time with my mom shopping and ended the night with ice cream with the family, it was just what I wanted for my birthday. Well, that and to put up our Christmas tree! Yes, I know it seems a little early, but for some reason this year I was just itching to put up our new 7' Prince Flocked tree from King of Christmas! I grabbed some cute ornaments and the metal tree collar from Hobby Lobby. The pillow is from Amazon! I may still add a few more details to it, but for now I'm loving the color scheme and the soft glow of the lights at night and in the early morning.

Last week I also worked on a new gift guide all for the hostess! I know Thanksgiving is coming up and you may have some holiday parties you are attending, so I wanted to get this one done asap! All of these ideas are under $50 and most are under $30!

For reference: I'm 5'2" and am wearing a size 4 in the jeans and smalls in the tops.

Countdown to Christmas | Vol. 1

Happy Monday and Happy November! I can not believe it's time to start thinking about Christmas shopping and decorating all ready! In the past, I have always 'respected the turkey', but for some reason this year I am ITCHING to get our tree up asap! Maybe it's because every year, the holiday season seems to fly by even faster... especially with little ones, I want to savor this magical and special time of year as long as possible! So, I am determined to get our tree up this week! We got rid of our old faux tree because it was shedding so bad, and got a new 7' faux flocked tree (use code: LOVELYLIFESTYLING' to save 10% off your order)! It's a beaut!! I can't wait to share!

On that note, I decided that every Monday I will be posting a round up of my gift guides (trying to get at least one done per week until Christmas), Christmas decor inspiration, sales or any other holiday related content I want to share. I thought this would make it easy for all of you to shop along with me! You can always reference all of my holiday gift guides on the Holiday Shop tab on the home page of my blog. I also have a page dedicated to Christmas jammies and Christmas decor, so make sure you are checking those pages weekly for updates!

I got the boys this matching set already and I'm sure I will end up getting a few more!

Gift Guide for Him

Happy first Monday of December! I'm kicking off my December posts with a gift guide for the main guy in your life today. I swear, Bill is always the most difficult to buy for, so I try to get his gift first and get it over with! Anyone else feel like guys are so hard to buy for? Anyways, I have been collecting some ideas over the past couple of weeks and decided to round up a bunch of my favorites for this post. But, make sure to check out my Gifts for Him Under $50 page under the 'Christmas Shop' tab for some more ideas that may not have made it on this post! I've also included some splurge gift ideas at the bottom if you guys are looking to spend a little more on your man!

Here are my top 10 picks for Gifts for Guys:

1. Half Zip Cotton & Cashmere Pullover ($59.50): Every guy needs a nice pullover sweater in their wardrobe. This is perfect to pair over plaid or dress shirts and looks great dressed up or down!

2. Antlers Glass Decanter & Wood Stopper ($48.40): I love the etched antlers in this glass decanter! It would be the perfect gift for the guy in your life that appreciates 'spirits'!

3. BOSE SoundSport Free Wireless Headphones ($169): Wireless headphones are a popular splurge gift this year. Since the Apple AirPods are basically sold out everywhere online, these are a great alternative. They are meant to be used while working out, so they are optimized for that purpose and are water resistant.

4. Tim Tebow: This Is the Day ($14.99): This book is for the guy in your life that loves football and reading. It's more of a self-help book, but also goes into Tim's own life experiences.

5. Timex Leather Band Watch ($249): I was drawn to the sleek, no fuss design of this watch. Bill is definitely not 'flashy' when it comes to watches and he needs a new leather band one that he can dress up or down. This one would be the perfect addition to his collection!

6. Tie Gift Set ($49): This would be the perfect gift for the working guy! Comes with a tie, pocket square handkerchief, and a pair of socks! You can get the pocket square monogramed for an additional $9.50. Lots of colors and patterns to choose from as well.

7. Breakfast Sandwich Maker ($18.99!): I think I may get this for every single guy on my list! What guy doesn't like a breakfast sandwich in the morning? Also comes with directions and recipes on how to make a variety of sandwiches.

8. Yeti 20 oz Rambler Travel Mug ($29.99): These Yeti mugs have been so popular this year! This is the perfect travel size and will help keep his coffee warm all morning!

9. Jack Black - The Fresh Man Set ($25): This set comes with a facial cleanser, oil-free moisturizer and a body/hair wash. Smells amazing!

10. Adidas Energy Cloud 2 Sneakers ($48.97): The perfect casual weekend sneaker! And they are on sale for less than $50!

The Ultimate Amazon Gift Guide!

Well, the people have spoken! You all wanted an Amazon specific gift guide (according to my IG stories poll) so, here it is! In all honesty, I will most likely do most of my holiday shopping on Amazon as well! So, I scoured Amazon's website to find the best gift ideas for everyone on your list! I decided to include everything on post, just to make it easier for you all to add items to your cart from this post and check out at once!

I've broken it out into categories and most items are all under $50! I have a few splurge items towards the bottom as well!

1. This cozy sherpa pullover has been one of my most favorite Amazon purchases to date! I would suggest sizing up for extra comfort!

2. I just got these stainless steel wine tumblers from my mom for my birthday and I love them! The rose gold color too!

3. Another great gift idea are these designer inspired bracelets. I have this one and this one that I love layering together.

4. A few items on my wish list are these cozy slippers, this bath tub caddy, this electric tea kettle and this Yeti stainless steel mug (no more microwaving my coffee!)!!

2. These plaid PJ pants would be a perfect gift for any guy on your list!

3. These Yeti tumblers were a big hit last year after I posted them on my Amazon gift guide and they are back!

4. For the craft beer lover: This beer glass set comes with all different styles of glasses for every type of fancy beer!

Since I have toddlers/preschool age kids myself, I just focused on this age range when searching for gifts. If you are looking for a specific age range, you can actually search in Amazon here. I kept things pretty gender neutral here and picked out a handful of toys, games, etc that I think any child would love!

1. First of all, I really love anything from Melissa & Doug for the boys. Most of their toys are wooden and just have such a great quality feel to them. They are the type of toys you would hand down and would keep their quality. I love this cute little coffee maker set!

2. I'm pretty sure both boys would love playing with this large keyboard mat! They love anything musical and would help them get some energy out!

3. I recently got Camden a tent for his room and he LOVES it! This teepee tent is the perfect gift and is a great price too!

4. Every kid loves a play kitchen! This Kidkraft vintage kitchen is the perfect gift for any preschool aged child. And it is currently on major discount!

5. Bennett has been loving coloring lately, so I think he would love this musical doodle board. This would be a great thing to bring along on long car rides as well! I love anything that encourages creativity with little to no clean up involved!

6. Of course these Fire tablets are always on the hot toy list every year for the holidays. They are currently marked down to under $70 which is a steal (original price is $99)! Or you can buy 2 for less than $120!!

Christmas Pajamas Round Up | 2018

It's finally time to start posting my Holiday content! I am so excited for this time of year! I usually start my holiday shopping with just some new holiday decor and of course, I start shopping for our Christmas PJ's before all the good ones sell out! I found a lot of great options online and all are pretty affordable!! I love all the family matching options, however, I don't think I could convince Bill to wear some of these 😂 But, if you have a husband that likes to take part of the fun I posted a few fun family options as well!

Our Christmas Recap

I hope everyone is recovering from their Christmas hangover. We have been in our jammies and eating left overs all day (writing this on Tuesday). This year's Christmas was one for the memory books for sure. I was honored to host my first Christmas Eve AND Christmas day dinners at our house. It was stressful for sure, but I was so excited to have our family over for Christmas. So, between the cleaning, cooking, baking, wrapping and preparing I was able to snap a few photos. Having a 1 year old and a 3 year old at Christmas is so much fun! Camden is just now 'getting' the idea of Santa (after a month of him asking for his birthday back 😂). And since my brain is still on co-pilot mode from all the hustle and bustle, I'm just going to go ahead and share the photos now so they can tell the story for me...

Christmas Eve started with church service at 10am (both boys went to the nursery and it was the first week I didn't get a text saying Bennett was crying! It was a Christmas miracle!). After church, we donated some toys to the local fire station (they host a toy drive every year) which was on our to do list for the past month! Then, we headed home for lunch and naps for the boys. Once the boys were down, it was time for me to hustle to get the house ready for my family to come over for dinner. It was just my immediate family on Christmas eve which consists of my parents, my brother and his girlfriend and my grandma. Christmas Eve has also been a more casual night for our family. Growing up, we would dress up and go to an early church service, then as soon as we got home we would change into jammies and my Mom always served heavy hors d'oeuvres like cocktail weenies, cheese and crackers, veggie tray, shrimp cocktail, etc. I love these types of dinners and I think it is partly the reason why I've grown to love Christmas Eve more than Christmas Day!

The boys got in their matching jammies after nap time and I gave them a few little toys to play with while I finished getting ready.

A newer tradition we started with my family a few years ago, was adding baked potato soup to the Christmas Eve menu. My mom would make a big batch in the crockpot and would set out a toppings bar with scallions, bacon pieces, and shredded cheese. This is my love language people! So, you bet I made the richest, creamiest crockpot baked potato soup recipe I could find on Pinterest because #yolo and Christmas comes once a year. I also had all the fixin's as they say. I also made my famous home made chex mix (which I pretty much just make so I can eat it all...).

After dinner, we headed into the family room to open a few gifts. My grandmother always gifted us with a new pair of PJs Christmas Eve and she still does! She got me this set this year and you bet I've already worn them!

I let the boys open one gift (these magnet blocks) Christmas eve to keep them happy. This was supposed to be one of the 'share' presents I got for the boys. So far, so good with the sharing of this one since there are so many pieces.

By the time we were done opening a few gifts, it was time for the boys to go to bed. I was so excited for the boys to go to sleep on Christmas eve so I could start playing Santa that I forgot to leave out cookies for said Santa... oops! Camden didn't even mention it, so hopefully we can do it next year when both the boys will be more into it! After the boys went to bed, I brought all the gifts out to put under the tree and filled their stockings! We ended the night watching Elf, drinking egg nog and eating cookies. The perfect way to end Christmas Eve!

I was so excited for the boys to wake up and see the tree Christmas morning! As soon as Camden saw the presents he turned to me and said "Santa was here!" in the sweetest voice! My heart melted!

(matching PJs via Old Navy, slippers via Target!)

We are continuing the theme of cars, trucks and things that go over here at the Rumple house of boys. So. many. cars!!! Camden asked Santa for 'Lightning McQueen' this year so we got home some 'Cars' characters and a 'Mack' truck to carry them in. We also got him the first Cars movie (since he actually hasn't seen the whole movie yet!). Some other fun toys that were hits were these cardboard blocks, this emergency vehicle play mat and a new scooter for Camden!

How quickly the pretty scene of the presents all wrapped under the tree turns into a mess!

After we opened gifts, my parents came over for a little mid morning brunch and to give the boys the rest of their gifts. Bill's brother's family also stopped by with their little one for a bit. After everyone headed home and the boys had their lunch, it was time for nap time which meant I was again cleaning, cooking and setting up for Christmas dinner! We were expecting around 15 adults, so not too big of a crowd, but enough to fill our house with tables and chairs. I set up the dining room with a fancy table scape and used my mom's Christmas dinner plates that she always uses. I also set up an extra table off of our kitchen table which was the family friendly area for the kids.

I was very pleased the way my Target table runner looked with my Trader Joe's last minute center piece (taper candles and candle holders from At Home).

Everything went according to plan and I was so happy to host our first Christmas dinner in our home. Bill and I were talking Christmas night about how many of our prayers have been answered over the last year and what a different place we are now than we were a year ago. It makes me really want to focus on giving thanks and giving back. We have so many blessings in our lives and I don't want to take any of them for granted. I have so many goals for 2018 and one of them is to become more grateful for this life that we have built together.

(plaid top via Old Navy)

These boys are growing like weeds and I really want to make sure we are enjoying these fleeting moments to the fullest! I mean, just look at those faces!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!
And cheers to the New Year ahead!
