Weekend Recap

Another whirlwind of a weekend flew by!

This weekend was all about celebrating Bill's brother's wedding!
We left for the Mohican State Park Lodge on Friday to get ready for the rehearsal Friday night. The wedding was held at the Grand Barn at the Mohicans. It was a beautiful venue (once you got there and were able to find it... It is out there)!

Friday night we had the rehearsal dinner at Der Dutchman. For those of you out of Ohio, it is a lot like Cracker Barrel with a homemade style buffet and Amish style craft store attached. Needless to say, this preggo took advantage of the buffet dinner and the pie for dessert!

Saturday morning, I went to the venue to help set up for the wedding. The bride had a beautiful vision that fit in perfectly with the rustic decor of the venue. There were navy linens with burlap and lace runners on each table. We filled ball jars with home grown wild flowers from Bill's mom's garden. The finished product was so pretty!

Each place setting held a little s'mores gift bag that guests could use later in the night by the fire.

I was particularly excited about the cupcake display... I had a pumpkin flavored cupcake with cream cheese icing that was to die for!

Of course, with the unpredictable Ohio weather, they had to rearrange the ceremony position to inside. They originally had planned to have the ceremony outside on the brick patio over looking the beautiful park scenery. It was raining for about an hour before the wedding and didn't look like it was going to let up, so the bride made the decision to take it inside. Other than that little hiccup, the wedding went on with out a hitch.

The bride's dress was absolutely gorgeous! It had crystal beading all throughout the straps and bodice that glittered in the sunlight. Bill and Scott's dad was the minister of the ceremony! It was such a great personal touch to the wedding.

During their first dance, some of the guest blew bubbles around them. It was a sweet moment!

Bill said a very heartfelt best man speech. I was very proud of him!

The rest of the night was filled with dancing out on the balcony. I even was able to do a little dancing myself! After a few songs though, I grabbed a chair and continued to chair dance the rest of the night lol :)

Sunday, we met the family and the newlyweds for brunch and then made our way home. After picking up Charlie from the puppy hotel, we went straight home and I crashed! I can't party like I used to!

How was your weekend?

Wedding Wednesday | Off the Registry Gifts

It's been a while since I've done a Wedding Wednesday post!
Even though our wedding is over, I still love weddings. I especially like them when I get to attend as a guest! As a guest, one must never show up empty handed. Instead of the traditional card and money, opt for something a little more personal.

I have to say, I typically stick to the registry when it comes to giving wedding gifts. I don't like taking the risk of the bride and groom not loving or needing what they get. However, there are a lot of great options out there to give a more personal gift if you are so brave. I like the idea of combining the two as well; giving one gift off the registry with a personalized gift.

Here are my recommendations:

These monogrammed dinner napkins are a perfect touch and will go with any decor the bride and groom choose.

I gave my close friend these "Ido" and "Me too" plates as well as the "Mr" and Mrs" forks. She ended up using them as their dinner plates at their wedding!

If the couple likes a good cocktail, why not spoil them with their own monogrammed copper mugs for Moscow mules!

Everyone loves a good cheese board. I think I registered for 3 different ones! This monogrammed cheese or bread board would be perfect for any occasion.

At least one person in every house hold loves wine. And if they don't we can't be friends. I'm loving this gold monogram wine stopper and the personalized wine rack!

I am loving this personalized pillow and am contemplating ordering one for our family room!

Last but not least, I absolutely love this canvas that showcases the words from the couple's first dance in the shape of a heart. How precious!

Have you ever given a gift off the registry?
Did the bride and groom appreciate it?

Wedding Wednesday // The Details (part 2)

Continuing from my last WW post here, these are the details from the reception portion of our wedding.

The Centerpieces

The centerpieces for the tables at the reception were a mixture of floral arrangements and DIY gold vases grouped together (see below...) with lots of sparkling votives and sequins sprinkled around.

The floral center piece was a mix of black magic roses, miniature pink roses, pink carnations and seeded eucalyptus.

The other tables had clusters of gold vases and wine glasses that I had found at Goodwill and spray painted gold. The tall vases were filled with the pink mini roses and eucalyptus, the smallest vase was filled with a single black magic rose and the wine glass had a floating candle.

I also made all of the table numbers using card stock and printing them at home using our wedding font and cutting them to fit the frames and picks.

The "LOVE" balloons

I had a vision of including these big gold letter balloons in the wedding decor somehow. I had seen them on blogs and instagram and decided they would be the perfect touch to my gold, glam wedding. So, I searched online and found these letter balloons on Amazon. I decided to buy the letters L O V and E :) It was a last minute decision to place them behind the head table, which I'm so glad we did because it provided the perfect focal point for the room.

Here's a better close up of the love balloons and the head table (Apparently, my Matron of Honor said something hilarious...). For the head table, I used a gold sequined table runner. We had 6 hurricane vases that held the bridesmaids' and my bouquets as well as spray painted wine glasses with floating candles for decor at the head table.

The Escort Cards

One of the most fun (and tedious) projects I completed for the wedding was the escort cards. I made paper flags for the gold and white straws with each guest's name and table number on the back. These were lined up in Champagne glasses during cocktail hour for guests to find their seat before the dinner part of the reception.

The Dessert Bar

The dessert bar was our "favor" to the guests. The dessert bar consisted of Buckeyes (for those outside of Ohio, Buckeyes are balls of peanut butter dipped in chocolate... they are also Ohio State University's mascot! Yes, it's a nut... But, also a delicious treat!), chocolate dipped pretzel rods, caramel puff corn and a tower of mini cupcakes in various flavors.

I actually made the cake stands you see in the above photo by spray painting plates, platters and candle sticks/holders (all bought at Goodwill) gold and epoxy gluing them together.

The Cake

Bill and I had a small 2 tier cake to use for our "cake cutting". I will say that unfortunately, the edible gold glitter that was supposed to look like gold glitter did not come out so well. It actually made the cake look a little yellow, so I'm not going to share a complete photo of the cake. I was, however, in love with the flowers cascading down the front and our cake topper that I found on Etsy

Well, that will do it! All the details of the Rumple wedding!

I hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse into the event that took over my life for a good 10 months last year! I'm sad that it is over, but actually relieved at the same time :)

Wedding Wednesday // The Details (part 1)

This has got to be my favorite part about weddings (well, besides all the mushy, romantic, best day of my life, marrying the man of my dreams stuff)...

I love when weddings have personalized details throughout that really captures the couples' personality. There are so many details from my wedding I want to share that I had to break it up into 2 posts :)

The Invites

I had come up with the design concept and purchased the font "Carolina Pro Black" knowing I would use it through out the wedding for consistency. Peabody Papers in Grandview brought my invite concept to life! The return envelopes were a shimmery gold (although they look yellow in the above photo) and I personally lined every envelope with the black and white striped paper to add a little pizazz. Read more about the creation of our invites here

We included a graphic map of the venue, church and hotel to provide guests with directions. I also special ordered the cocktail napkins with the social media icons from ForYourParty.com to be used at cocktail hour and the reception.

The Flowers

My bridal bouquet was made up of all ivory flowers: roses, hydrangeas, ranunculus, carnations and seeded eucalyptus. I carried my late grandfather's wedding ring on my bouquet as my something old (cue the tissues!).

The bridesmaid bouquets were made up of dark magic roses, pink carnations, pink ranunculus and seeded eucalyptus. They each had the same black and white striped ribbon at the base and I added the gold sequin ribbon to the bridesmaid bouquets.

After Ceremony Noise Makers

Another fun detail I worked on were these gold noise makers for guests to blow after the ceremony when we exited the church. I added a little note on each reading "Make some noise! Lindsay & Bill are hitched!"

That's all for this week's WW post. Stay tuned next week for more details from the reception!

Wedding Wednesday // Bridesmaids

Welcome to another installment of the Wedding Wednesday series :)

This week, I wanted to share photos of my beautiful bridesmaids!

I decided to have the girls wear all different styles of long, black chiffon dresses. I liked the idea of having them pick out a dress that matched their personal style and made them feel comfortable.

Most of the dresses were from David's Bridal, so it was easy for out of state 'maids to try on and get fitted.

For the bridesmaid gifts I got them the pink quartz tear drop earrings which they wore for the wedding, a monogrammed black pashmina, heart sunglasses, gold sequined hanger and a bridesmaid tote to carry for the day.

I also got myself some of the same matching gifts :)

The heart sunglasses were a hit and they made great photo props!

I even gave some to my flower girls!

That's all for this week's Wedding Wednesday.
Stay tuned next week for some detail shots!

Wedding Wednesday // The First Look

Wedding Wednesday is back in action!

This week I wanted to share photos from our first look. Bill and I decided to (well, had to) take photos before the ceremony since our ceremony started at 5:00 and reception followed immediately after. I was ok with doing a first look ahead of time. I liked the idea of Bill and I having our moment to ourselves before the ceremony and all eyes on us.

After the make up was done, the hair was curled, the mimosas were sipped and the dress was on, it was time for me to see my groom!

It was a very windy day. My hair was a little tousled in the wind, but we made it work.

We both were a little teary and immediately embraced.
I was so excited to see him on our wedding day!

After we had our moment, Bill gave me a spin.

He seemed to be pretty impressed ;)

I don't know why I love the above photo so much. I'm pretty sure we were just saying "OMG, we are getting married today!" or "Dang! We look GOOD!" Something along those lines I'm sure.

Here are a few more photos of us after the first look...

That's all for this Wedding Wednesday!

Stay tuned next week for some group shots.
